ScanGuage II

Does anyone have a ScanGuage II installed on their TV and if so do you find it helpful when towing?

Lee,

I have been using the ScanGauge II for about 4 years now (first in a 04 Chevy 1500 and now in a 12 Ford F150). I like it because it allows me to keep an eye on things the gauge cluster just does not tell you. In my old chevy I didn't have a trans tep guage so I liked the ScanGauge for that, my new F150 has trans temp display on one of the dash screens, but not the screen I keep up so I still have the trans temp along with boost displayed on the ScanGuage. I like the ability to keep my eye on up to 4 items at once. You can also add the ability to read different things after the fact using their xGauge function.

If you don't want a program or someting with big full color and animated display the ScanGuage II fits the bill nicly for the price point.

I use it to check oil, coolant, and trans temps on my F350.

I have used a Scan guage 11 for several years. I don't use the mpg monitoring stuff but do use it to track coolant temp, Voltage, IAT, and AP.

I have used it to track issues on different vehicles. (ie. programmed 4 individual 02 sensors to track intermittent culprit on a gas truck........paid for itself in that application alone.

You can see 4 different inputs at a time.

I had one but had some odd problems with it. It continued to draw about 1.5 amps when my truck was turned off and killed my batteries.

Then it got stolen.

I now have an Edge CTS display that works with my chip to give me all the same info (and more) so I never looked at replacing it.

I have the cts also but just the monitor as I have custom tunes written for my truck. I love it but at an average retail of $400 it is not for everyone (more if you get the programmer ones).

I did want to try the scan gauge cause it can monitor things the cts can't (as of now) and thought about getting one to play with and see how I liked it. But for now the cts works for me.

I run a scangauge II in both my 3500 and c4500. Over several years of using it, I have come to trust it more than my stock gauges.

After losing my trans in a motorhome I bought the Scan Gauge and installed to monitor tranny temp. I've since transferred it to several vehicles and I like it a lot. Comes in handy when someone gets a check engine lite. Reads codes and can reset codes also.
