It was great fun, but being in our 20's put us in a "we don't fit in with this crowd of old geezers".... Anyway, the reason for all the turmoil: We put a decal on the back of our Airstream that named it, "OUR OUTHOUSE"... The "martinis at 5" crowd didn't see the humor in our choice of names... So, now we just refer to them for what they are... And yes, there's a few things I call what they are that simply can't be named in a public forum

Like you John. we named the Hideout, OUR! No backlash on that one though..

Yep, those "blue-hair old sophistocrats with martini glasses" just had no sense of humor when two young people with a new Airstream tried to "infiltrate their society" LOL Little did they know, eh ???

In all fairness, we met some fantastic people on that trip, some that we stayed in touch with long after we sold the Airstream and they had to stop towing due to health reasons. All are no longer with us, but they were a joy to travel wtih. Others though, just no sense of humor over "defaming a beautiful trailer with such a name" LOL

DW's truck, our TV, is "the beast," same as all her previous trucks. My Jeep sedan is "the pumpkin" because it's orange. (My previous Tracker was "the grape.") Our trailer is just "the Cougar."

Our boats had names that were painted on the transom. When we go anywhere (not towing) I say "do you want to take your truck or my truck?". Usually we take her truck (F150 King Ranch) as it rides better than my F250. We camp in "the trailer" and we live at "the house". I guess we're boring, or traditional or pragmatic, take your choice.

For a number of years our RV park in Titusville had a single axle Airstream, bright and shiny, named "Baked Potato." We still smile at the memory.

When the Argosy was first introduced, one of the first "OH, HELL NO" comments from the Wally Byam Caravan Club was never to allow those "baked potato owners join"....

Sounds like your Caravan Club was one of those deals that had secret handshakes and wore robes to the meetings.

Or a DRV 5th wheel owner on the Thor forum when someone answers a question that doesn't own a DRV! Talk about an exclusive club!!!

No secret handshakes or robes, but we were convinced that blue hair dye was a requirement when we first joined. Our dealer included a "free first year membership" or we probably would never have even considered joining.

WBCC was, when we owned our Airstream, restricted to CURRENT owners of Airstream travel trailers. If you sold your trailer, you had to resign from the WBCC. When Airstream started producing Argosy trailers, admitting them to the WBCC was quite controversial. Some of that changed when Airstream started producing "silver motorhomes" and WBCC "sort of fell apart" during the few years that Airstream produced "fiberglass flat wall trailers and motorhomes". Then when that ended, WBCC "reblossomed" somewhat.

The "exclusivity" is the same as MOC admitting Hideout or Cougar owners to the Keystone sponsored rally for Montana Owners... Or, admitting anyone who owns a THOR trailer to the DRV Club....

It's not so much about "exclusion" as it is about having something in common and building an organization with membership based that commonality. To me, sort of like Ford honoring a Chevy warranty or all of the Jones family showing up at the Smith family reunion. Or, even more "dramatic", all the LSU alumni showing up at the Ole Miss alumni pregame party...

Secret handshake? I haven't found one that's not illustrated with a You Tube video, so not much "secrecy, eh ? LOL

^^^Now that there might get things "going"!! My son has one of Joe Burrow's helmets from the 2019? LSU/Ole Miss game (58-37 LSU) in his LSU Tiger room. Spirits (of all kinds) could run high in that kind of party!

No I didn't do that, but at the time I needed money for big home repairs and had kids coming along, etc, etc. I sold for what I thought was a bundle, but in hindsight...well let's just say I wish I had it back.

Don’t be hard on yourself we ALL have a car or truck we wish we wouldn’t have parted with

I went to high school in the 80’s with a kid that drove a Gt 350 or 500 as his first car
