Small Problem:

Hello, I have a small problem and need some advice.

I have a 22 month old daughter who has found out she can reach the slide control switch on the wall. So my question is there a cover or someway to keep her from closing and opening the slides? I have looked everwhere for a cover and nothing....so I'm at a loss right now.

It is a rocker switch that is mounted right above the ceiling fan switch that she is quickly wearing out. LOL...

Thank you for any advice on this,

Eric

Eric:
In school classrooms you might find a thermostat or other similar control that is housed in a clear, plexiglass/plastic "box". The cover is hinged and lockable. The thermostat controls are accessible to the school custodian but not to the hands and fingers of the pupils (or to your 22 month-old daughter).
If the fan and slide switches are in close proximity, you might be able to cover both of them with the one box. Perhaps Home Depot or other similar outlet might carry them or you could try some retailer that sells residential and commercial heating or electrical stuff.
These boxes aren't exactly decorator designed but they are functional.

Thanks everyone, those are great ideas. I'll head up to the store today and take a look at them.
The fuse seems to be quick and easy short term fix. I am sure as she gets older it won't be a problem but for now we need to be safe.

If I find a cover that works I will post some pictures,

Thanks again

you must have a very tall kid, mine is 23 months old and is no where near the switch, i don't think that my 4 year old could reach mine, with out some creative thinking anyway. good luck on this issue. my dad in law uses those box's on his rental propertys where he pays heat and they seem to work really good.

Hunter757, Howdy;

Word of caution... You will be drilling some holes for the install. Be aware that there are electrical wires hideing out in the immediate area.

Tons of great ideas and very helpful. I really don't want to drill holes in the wall for this project. The problem should grow up and learn I hope.
I think removing the fuse for now will work until I can come up with something else.

The switch is located at the stairs so yes she is tall for her age the stairs help....lol

They do make a keyed switch if you feel it's worth it to dig into a little electrical work. I'm an electrician in a prison we can keep the inmates away from stuff might work for a 2 year old.
