Service Department Fudge Factor

I recently came to the conclusion never to believe what a service department representative tells you for the time it will take them to do a repair. Whatever they tell you, multiply it by a factor of 4. The last couple of times I’ve taken my RV to a service shop (different shops), they both took four times longer to do the repairs than what they told me over the phone or face-to-face. I know probably not all shops are like this, but here around Spokane and Eastern Washington they sure seem to be that way.

If nothing else, you should state that it’s going to take four times longer than your estimate so that if it only takes a week, we will be very pleasantly surprised!!
