Passport 2810 BHWE bunk mod?

Love our 2014 Passport ultralight. we got the 2810 BHWE (we for west coast edition). We would like to remove the top bunk and turn the bottom into a real twin size to use regular mattress for our daughter. It would be nice to have a little room to walk next to the bed, and was thinking of putting cabinets up for added storage. Anyone done such? also I am having a hard time finding out exactly what is under bottom bunk to see if even possible. I know the exterior storage is, but only about half of it. The hot water heater maybe a foots worth. I guess I am second guessing do to my thought if it was empty under there they would of put a door as a cabinet.
