Our Passport Mods

The DH has been busy with his honey-do list this winter. We have a new shelf for towels, etc. in the bathroom, a toilet paper holder, a stove top cutting board, a drop down counter extension (took a little while to figure out where to put this one), a bed lift, and a PVC bike rack for the bed of the truck.

Took the camper out this past weekend and used every single mod! He hasn't finished his list yet, but he has been working hard on it .

DieselMatt, Got the cutting board at Walmart, treated it with several coats of Butcher Block Oil and Finish from Lowe's, then the DH made and attached legs to the underside of it to fit between the grids on the stove top. It's very easy to move when you need to use the stove, and it stays on the stove for travel.

Good looking rig you have there! Does your truck have the 6.0L diesel engine, and if so have you had any issues with it since you bought it? We just bought our new to us 2006 f350 and have heard of others having problems with this motor. Not sure what to expect out of it, but I'm hoping it's all good .

Thanks for the info. I need to do that mod!

It sure does. It has been a fantastic engine for me, but I made sure to take care of the modifications needed to ensure it is reliable. There are a few that you really should do to ensure reliability.

Great job! Love the towel rack shelf in the bathroom, I hadn't thought of putting on there. What did you use to secure it?

That is EXACTLY what I want for our new Hideout. A wooden cutting board for the top of the range. I've gotta run to WM now...

And I want a fold down extension to our countertop. Our 26' doesnt have any countertop space.

Thank you!

I'd like to know how the bathroom shelf was attached to the walls, also.

The shelf was built by the DH. He planed the lumber down to about 1/2" thick to reduce the weight and it was attached by using 1-1/4" metal anchors he purchased at Lowe's. It is only attached on the ends with 2 anchors on each end. It is built to size and is very snug in there. We will of course let it go with the Passport when we decide to go to our future 5er. It's going to be very convenient in there! The link below should show the anchors that were used.

http://www.lowes.com/pd_169742-2191-...503&facetInfo=

For the drop down counter top he purchased a 24"x 24" wooden table top at Lowe's and cut it down to the size needed, scribed it to the counter top so it would follow the contour, finished with butcher block oil and finish, then attached it to the brackets by attaching screws on the underneath side. The brackets were ordered online at Home Depot. They weren't available in the store.

Shelf/Towel Rack

Really great idea on the shelf/towel rack unit! I am also interested in how you secured it to the side walls.
