I read this thread expecting to see some funny comments on queen to king. Sorry, I'll move on.

All I can say is I got rid of a camper simply because you cannot walk around the bed. It's a pain in the *** to have to climb over or scooch yourself out of the bed. The older you get the order that gets
With that being said I will never own an RV if you cannot walk around the entire bed

Totally agree, my wife would divorce me if I tried to cut down on the space on either side of the bed

Was think about getting rid of the nightstands and the bed platform and putting a king on the place where these things went and I could add some shelves to replace the nightstands. It would make getting in/on the bed a lot easier and these would be more room for me since the missus prefers her pups when camping and they hog the bed. I can't lift the darn bed anyway as we have a 14" mattress and it is heavy.
We have a full queen mattress in our Outback 328rl...and it sags...how did you attach the additional plywood? We just put a 9 inch latex mattress in and I sure don't want to ruin it.

We went the other way. RV came with a short RV king that was actually a decent mattress for an RV. Trouble was there was only about 6" on each side to get around and we wanted more so I cut down the base and put in a standard queen mattress in a box. Very happy with the results.

Going to go with the king for a bit.. lucky we are both still pretty limber... but when it becomes an issue, its easy to go back to the queen... although on the curb side, 2/3rds of the mattress sits on a wall to wall platform anyway that is over the storage space below, so one can only walk about 2' up. I just need to take out the 2'x16" platform i'm going to build for the corner of the mattress to sit on.

Are you saying the bed platform sags, and thus the mattress follows the curve and sags? Or is the platform itself not sagging, just the cheap RV mattress sagging?

On our previous rv, grand design reflection 5th wheel, I discovered that the platform itself was poorly engineered. The 1/2 inch OSB platform, near the middle of the length of the queen bed was not supported well. They put a 2x2in stringer across the width of the bed and held it in place with one 2in screw screwed into each end grain. When the two of us got on the bed, that poor support let the OSB sag in the middle, and thus the mattress too.

You may need to take a look at how strongly your platform is made.

40 plus years ago my wife and I lived together un-wed.
We slept in a twin bed, that's right one twin bed.
We got married and bought a house and a "full size" bed.
As I said, our RV has a queen size and it's too big. We can't find each other.
All this "gotta have a King" we don't understand.
Our trifold was getting a little weak so I bought a 3" memory foam topper and used it as a bottomer and all is well.
Maybe you all have other issues that require large beds and such.
Wife and I go to bed, snuggle up and life is good.

I can understand why you need only a Queen. Why can't you understand that some will need a King?

We don't need a Queen, we want a full size. To us it's like maybe you don't really like each other?

This is how little my Australian Shepherd was at 10 weeks old. Now she's 5 years old and a good 30lbs bigger. We made a few parenting decisions when she was young that we're still paying for today...

PS maybe someone could rotate that last picture for me.

I think we all like what we like. For us, we can't understand how a grown up couple still wants to sleep on a twin or regular full size bed if they can afford something larger - but it's not my business. Nor is it to assess from afar whether you do or don't like your spouse due to YOUR choice of bed size.

Some couples may still like to "spoon" at an older age but I don't know a single one...not one - not even my kids and their spouses. Body temps are different, physical ailments - the list is long why folks don't want to spend their lives glued together in bed..... To me; if you like what you like - great. If I like what I like - great. I don't spend any time worrying about why you like what you like. JMO/YMMV

For all those talking about making the RV bed. We got a zippered bedding set that works great. It's like a big fitted sleeping bag. The top cover zips to the fitted bottom sheet.
All you need to do is zip up the sides and the bed is made. They are not cheap, but sure are nice. Also plenty warm for the winter months.

My wife happened to be looking at some of my posts.
I THOUGHT I was being funny, she said, as is often the case I'm not as funny as I think I am.
Sorry about that.
I'll try to hold my alleged humor in check.

No worries. I'm pretty sure my wife has said the same thing to me on more than one occasion. LOL

Don't worry about it Rob. I also have an "alleged" humor that gets surprised looks or frowns on many occasions. I just keep on alleging to have humor and hope most of it might be somewhat humorous.
