Seeking owners

Hi, I’m looking for owners who have the same travel trailer (2016 Keystone Springdale Artic Package 212) as ours. I have some questions about the rv.

You might as well just ask your question. Odds are we can answer it because pretty much all RVs use the same things.

Ok sounds good. My older RV had the gray tank and black tank draining through one drain with 2 pull valves. My new rv has 2 drains. Back drain has 2 pull valves ( one on each side of the drain). Halfway at the middle of the rv there is another drain just like the back one with one pull valve.

Not all true Chuckster... some of the members here use a bidet or wet wipes.

It sounds like your going from 2 waste tanks to 3. The 3” drain will be the black tank and the two 1 1/2” valves will be gray tanks. Common to have 2 separate outlets when the floor plan has sinks/bathrooms spread far apart. 2 short hoses hooked to a Y will allow you to dump all 3 into the same hose.

That’s not real RVing.

Howdy Utah! Welcome... the two valves are for one each black and gray tanks that drain your bath/sink (gray) and black is for the potty. On my camper, the shower drains into the black tank (dumb) but basically the same. The other drain handle located behind your rear tire driver-side is for a galley tank (kitchen sink probably).

I have installed a Valterra Safety Dump Valve T58 onto the end of my sewer line where all the lines come out and you connect the sewer hose. I leave the galley tank valve open because I am too old and fat to crawl under my slide and back behind the rear tire to open the valve and use the safety valve to dump the galley tank. I keep the other two valves shut (towards the front) and open them when I want to dump the black tank as the extra water from the gray tanks helps keep things moving down the sewer line.

One of the first things you will want to pick up is an ELECTRICAL Management System (EMS)... mine is a Progressive and I hook it up to a campground 30A outlet and it makes sure that problems with the campground electricity do not fry my electrical stuff. An EMS is needed and a surge protector, while cheaper, doesn't do a whole lot except for massive spikes in campground power.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I saw that the 2 pull valves next to the 3” drain in the rear are for the gray and black tanks. I’m still confused about the 3” drain that’s in front of the front tire and under the slide out. Is that another gray tank? I see the word “Valterra” in the cap. Am I understanding you correctly?

Sure appreciate the tip on a EMS. I’ll go buy one for sure. It does make sense. Thank you so much.

What’s the cost on a good EMS? I looked up and they aren’t cheap. I want to make sure.

30 amp EMS start around $300. In my opinion, for 1/3 that cost you can get a surge protector and you may as well take that hundred bucks and donate it to charity, at least you'll have more peace of mind. A surge protector is useless in the camping environment as they do not address the most common harmful conditions of low voltage, improperly wired pedestal outlets, voltage drop outs (like the lights at home flickering during a storm), etc.

One bad electrical event can wipe out the air conditioners, fridge, tv, antenna booster, etc. and end up costing thousands of dollars along with the lost time/use of the camper.

There are 2 - 3” drains. One is at the middle in front of the front rv tire and under the slide out. The other one is in the rear which is common for the gray and black tanks. I’m trying to find out what the drain at the middle does. Hope this helps.

Is this your RV?

If so I would think the rear black/grey valves are for the bathroom and the one under the slide is for the galley.

Same rv with only one door in the rear but same exact floor plan. Ok, that’s what I was wondering. Thank you

Another question. As I was reading the specs on the rv you showed me. It shows only 1 gray tank.

Many, many times those specs show that. If I recall that one shows yours with one tank and 64 gallons. That won't be the case. It is a mistake. You will have 2 tanks of approx. 32 gals.
