slide adjustment issue

I hope someone can help me with this issue. I adjusted the cables on mine slide so the stand off brackets both top and bottom, right and left, are hitting the jam when totally open. The problem is when i pull in the slide and back out after adjustment , the bottom stand off brackets are about 3/4 and inch from being tight against the jam. The top bracks are tight against the jam. How do i adjust for this? Note the slide are going in and out much better than before the adjustment.

Your cables are probably not adjusted correctly. Did you follow these instructions?

Yes to the letter. Everything is perfect after adjustment until I put the slide out and back in. Then I have 3/4 inch gap on the bottom on both sides… can’t figure it out??

Is it possible that the top is too tight and is preventing the bottom from pulling in? Maybe try backing off the top a bit and see it that straightens it up?

^^^ It's got to be this. There's really nothing mysterious or magical about cable slides. It's all about correct adjustment.

If you're trying to adjust the slide when it's all the way in or out then you're not getting a true reading on appropriate tension.

When pulling the slide in (Retracting) the interior cables aren't being used and when putting the slide out (Extending) the exterior cables aren't being used.

The slide should remain perfectly level throughout the entire operation. If it isn't then it's out of adjustment. Start with the slide half-way in/out. Use a tape and measure the distance from the wall top and bottom...both sides to make sure it's pulling evenly. All 4 measurements should be the same.

In the OP's case it sounds like it's tighter at the top when the slide is brought in. If so then I would start by having the slide in. Then Extending it to about half way. Measure the 4 points (top and bottom both sides of the slide). If they're the same then adjust the exterior cables to correct tension. If the slide is level when moving it out, and the assumption is correct that the exterior cables are tighter at the top than the bottom, then there should be some slack in the bottom, exterior cables that can easily be tightened.

All of the cables should be under tension at all times. They are always a little tighter on the operating side when in use but the other side (whether in or out at the time) shouldn't be sagging, but should be snug.

Keep in mind that it's possible to over-tighten the cables. Doing so puts additional strain on the motor and gears and can prematurely fail those components as well.

I know this sounds confusing but it's really quite simple once you understand which cables are working and which are idle any time you push the button to extend or retract.

There are more tricks to use depending on the current condition of adjustments. For now start with measurements. Extend the slide out about half way and measure the 4 points. Then just touch the Retract button long enough to change the tension of the cables...don't retract the slide. Measure the 4 points again. That will tell you what work needs to be done. If it's still confusing then do the measurements and report back here for next steps.

Here is a good video for adjusting the cables. Video is made by Norco Industries
