Fan in inverter going bad?

Hi all Me again.
I went camping over the Memorial day weekend, Had a great time. While sitting in the coach playing cards, with all the lights on, ( we were hooked up to shore power), My wife notice a pulsing roaring sound. It went up and down. I am hard of hearing so I didn't notice it. Upon further investigation, Me laying on the floor next to the converter, I found it to be the cooling fan for the converter. I turned off a few lights and the roaring stopped. Could the fan be going bad or is it like the type used on computers that speed up as needed to cool down the converter when there is a large power draw. and if that's the case why would it pulsate. I have a WFCO 3 stage converter.
