Just wanted to get a feel if the Roadside Assistance offered by Camping World is worth it. Just got it the sign up in the mail today.

Just wanted to hear and positives or negatives on this service

Thanks

We've learned over the years that one roadside3 assistance is just about like another. If AAA is called and they can't get a wrecker out to you in southwest Florida, neither can Geico. If Camping World calls a service company to come to your aid out in the northern stretches of Utah and they won't pay the basic amount, neither will State Farm. Roadside assistance is all well and good, but do not expect miracles.

Fortunately, we have not had occasion to use our Good Sam Roadside Assistance (touch wood). However, our DS used his outside of Billings, MT. He lost a wheel bearing on his Springdale TT. Called Good Sam, they sent a repair tech out to the the rest area, replaced the bearings and races (luckily the spindle was good). A few hours later he was underway.

I just bought a 3 year Good Sam Roadside Assistance. Hopefully I will never need it but it gives me peace of mind that if I do need its there.

If you are shopping for road side assistants be sure you are getting one that specializes in RVs. My experience with Good Sam ERS has been excellent. I can't speak for the others that are available. JM2¢, Hank

We've had GS Roadside Assistance for several years & used it on one occasion -- a good experience with follow-up phone calls from the operators. As others have said it's "peace of mind".

Here's some additional threads on the same topic:

We have Good Sam roadside assistance as well as roadside assistance on our RV policy with Geico. Make sure you not only look at RV specific roadside assistance but the specifics of the policy as well. We had AAA but they have numerous limitations that would have rendered their service pretty useless to us. Nearly everything I've read about Good Sam is good.

I've had the Good Sam RSA for several years and hope I never have to use it.. Like my neighbor once said... "3 days after you cancel, you'll need it... you bet-ch'a"

We had AAA RV Plus, lost a wheel bearing, sitting on side of busy highway and after 2 hours they called back and said they couldn't help. Got Good Sam Roadside, same scenario a year later , (that trailer is history!) they came and helped me take it to a camping world to trade it in. Good Sam rep. couldn't fix it but at least they came and helped me get it solved.

I guess we will find out. I have AAA +RV, decided to also sign up with GS RSS. It starts tomorrow as we start our four thousand, nine state , three month odyssey before coming back home.

They wanted me to sign up for a two or three year special, but I decided to just go with a one year policy until I knew if it was worth it. If so, I will cancel the AAA and just go with GS. I also bought a one year Passport America to try out. Will see how it goes and report back.

We have had CoachNet for a couple years and needed it twice for road side assistance and it has been great. Additionally, they have a tech support line, you just register with them your RV info, and they will give you phone support with just about any concern. I recommend them.
