A new type of ladder, I think?

Got a sale book today from Camping World and their advertising a 6 or 7 ft. folding ladder that folds up for storage to 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 87". If I'm reading this right it would fit into a 5" tube to store under an RV. Does anyone have one of these? How does it fold up? Is it safe? Really neat idea if it does what it says. Thanks

Like Steve says ... "Google is your friend."

CW has a video that shows how it folds up. Go to their website and look up Folding Ladders. Should fit into a 5" tube. Specs and other info about the ladder is on their website.

It kind of reminds me of the folding attic ladders (same principal, different design) we use in the fire service.

This is the one I use. Lightweight, stable and stores easily. Don't know if the same one your referring to.

Yup, I got the tall one of those ladders and am thinking about getting a second shorter one. It folds down to a "hand size square" that is as long as the ladder. Fits very nicely in the Alpine basement! It is fairly quick to set up and to lock in place. Once locked, it is very stable - or as stable as a ladder can be. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but since our bike and bike rack occupy the rear ladder (plus a few other goodies), there's no room for a standard ladder to be strapped to it. I give this folding ladder a "two thumbs up"!

Just FWIW this is what I carry, available at any Walmart. I looked at all the RV-specific options and found that they were both expensive and not capable enough for my needs (a 6-foot ladder doesn't do much good servicing a 13'-high 5th wheel.) This Cisco unit is extremely versatile and will morph into a 17-foot extension ladder or 8-foot step ladder, among other configurations, and is only about 5 feet tall in storage mode so it fits in most front storage compartments. Anyway, works for me, YMMV.

Used one for years with TT, I love it. Folds easily, solid to use. Great invention.

Rating...

Nice ladder, but it's only rate for 225 lbs... I never use to think much about ladder ratings until I was caring my tool bag up to the roof to do a service call (HVAC contractor) . Half way up one of the steps broke, then the next and the next. I dropped my bag and hung on for dear life, but the side rail gave way and down I went. I weigh 275lbs and then the boots, clothes and what-not in my pockets and I've got to be pushing close to 290 lbs. and then the tool bag is an easy 45-50#.

So, this ladder is for skinny old men and women, not for someone like me. The ladder on the back of my coach has a rating label that says 300#, but it shutters when it sees me coming.

I have the 6' version and it works very well for my purposes. I have the RV ladder on the back of the 5er for accessing the roof, but, I needed something to reach the windows or the nose for cleaning. 6' does it and the 6' version actually folds small enough that I carry it in the bumper. With the Velcro wrap that keeps it compressed, it is a firm fit in the bumper (doesn't slide around), but, is not so bad that I can't get it out. Of course if someone hits the bumper and dents it, I may be out a ladder... Aw, I can always pound it out with a 2x4 and sledge...

Finally bought one of these. 7' version. Mounted a plastic corner fence post under trailer to carry it, just like my sewer hose. Looks good and works great.
