Exclamation Tekonsha P3 Overload Issue

Thanks for reading this post! I am hoping to get a little help with my Tekonsha P3 brake controller. We recently purchased a new to us 2008 Fuzion 302 and I tow with a 2006 Ram 2500 Diesel.

The challenge I am having is when hooked up - if the brakes are applied gently - everything works as designed. However, if I brake aggressively the controller flashes Red and displays "Overload - No Trailer Brakes."

The warning is concerning - however the brakes do still work - but they pulse instead of getting constant stopping pressure. My question is what could be wrong here? I replaced the cable and 7 way from the pin box to the truck. On the truck side I have a brand new 7 way in the bed. I get the same behavior when plugged into the bumper as the bed. Tekonsha states that there is likely an open ground somewhere in the system causing a signal overload. I have no idea where to even start. Any help would be appreciated.
