Pump keeps running

Out with our new camper for a 4 day trip and the pump keeps running..we turn on the pump and it will prime and stop however it will turn back on 15 seconds later and prime again then 15 second later it will do the same thing..all faucets are off and we see no leaks.

If you see no leaks inside or out check and make sure it's not leaking by the toilet flush valve. If you can't find anything it could be leaking back through the pump.

The other reason could be low battery. Easy test, is this happening on battery power only, could be battery. Is this happening while on shore power? than more likely an air leak in a water line. If not not happening on shore power, check the battery.

We are connected to shore power...went out 3 other times and no issues at all..Couldnt find any leaks however I opened the kitchen sink cabinet last night and after the pump primes for a couple seconds i can hear something gasping for air..my pump however is located by passthru storage.

When went on our first trip, the pump would cycle 3-4 times a night and wake me up. Then after a few trips it stopped doing it. Then on a long trip last month wife was washing dishes inside, child flushed the toilet and I was using the outside kitchen sink all at the same time. When water use stopped, pump would cycle every 2 seconds. Based on what I read here in the past, I guessed that the high water flow must have sucked up some debris into the pump and it caused the pump not to seal and allow backflow of water into the tank. I disconnected water lines, flushed out the pump, reassembled and it has worked flawlessly since. The water pump on my parent’s motorcoach has an inline filter, so I might add one to mine to avoid future issues

You might find this thread interesting;

http://www.keystoneforums.com/forums...er+pump+filter

You can also use the search function on the top bar and just put in "water pump filter" etc. and look for "posts", not "threads".

Must have worked the debris through. I would still look into a strainer filter you can install at the pump. We just finished a 17 day camping adventure and went through multiple full tanks of water so ours must have cleaned itself out too

Went today to install filter and also since im in there install winterization kit..they got this pump butted rate up to the wall so I though ill move it over a little bit..Hex head screws are torqued down so much i cant get anything to grip on and let me loosen them..How can I install both of them without running into a big mess..

First picture is water coming out of pump to unit.
Second picture is water coming from tank into pump

You may need to buy a #2 Roberts APEX bit and holder to use with a 1/4" extension that's long enough to get your tool above the pump so you can get enough torque on the tool to break loose the screws. It was likely installed with a "screw gun" and may have been torqued down much more than necessary.

Once you get it "broke loose" then I'd suggest moving the pump away from the wall far enough for the strainer/inlet fitting to clear the wall completley. That would allow room for the inlet strainer to be attached to the pump and then the fresh water tank inlet connection to be attached to the strainer. I'd suggest not "cramming it between the pump and the wall" because that will cause the hose to rub the wall and increase your pump noise.

That looks almost identical to the way mine is/was installed as well. I could only loosen 1 or 2 of the screws while standing outside the access door and using a mirror to try and get to the screws closer to the wall. I ended up climbing inside to loosen the other screws, and I used a hex head driver on a screwdriver handle.

I ended up just using the same holes to put in back in place after winterization, but I plan to switch it around at the end of this season so I don't have to undo the screws to access the port on the backside of pump for winterizing. I also plan to add some more foam to help with the noise.

All of the water pump mounting screws I've seen from Keystone are #2 Roberts SQUARE DRIVE (not hex- 6 point drive). I think if you look closer, you'll see that the screws are square drive (4 sides) not hex drive (6 sides).

Mine also had hex screws. Used regular hex nut drivers similar to the attached.

I found that if air is trapped it will do that as well. The pressure switch is trying to keep satisfied. I was told once to make sure you don't

Another thought. . .

If you have left the city water access valve in the fill position, vs. system pressurize the pump will run on and off instead of turning off. The reason is the pressure switch is never fully triggered and never shuts off totally. Just check it.
