If a cone washer is tightened and then retightened it will tend to no seal properly. I had a small leak under the kitchen sink in my camper and tried to snug up the fitting that was leaking and found by talking to an RV tech that re-tightening generally won't help. New cone washer is in order.

Before I start cutting, any idea of the size of the pex tubing?
Thanks for all the answers

It is all 1/2" in these rigs. That is the nominal size, the OD is .625 (5/8"), and the ID is .485". Cutting PEX is best done with a cutter made for it. https://www.amazon.com/IWISS-Cutters...zcF9hdGY&psc=1

$25 for a new valve is "much cheaper" than 2 weeks of your trailer sitting in a service department storage lot during camping season.....
So just wondering about the $25.00 valve, is this a dometic valve or an aftermarket valve? Asking because I just purchased the same valve, cost me $97.00 including taxes. This is in Canada so I expect the price to be higher but not by that much.

Here's a google link. No $97 valves there;

First one in the link is indeed Amazon for 46.48 at a 30% discount. It's the highest priced option on that page. Further on there are a couple that get into the 65-80 category from places I've not heard of and wouldn't buy from. Looks like there is an option from Amazon for 9.99 as well. Maybe there are translations for Canada??

I think you are on to something with the "translations for Canada". My search of the same link seems to come up a little different, most likely because I'm searching from a different country.

The one I bought came from a dealer and was actually 86.95 + 12% tax. I didn't shop around as I was in a hurry to grab the part and get it repaired.
Two things I learned: It's pricey to be in a hurry and even more pricey to be Canadian

The link you are using is "Amazon/Canada" It lists for $105.85, on sale for $94.65. That same valve, DOMETIC 385311641 Genuine OEM Water Valve Kit sells on "Amazon/US" list price $66.74 and sells for $46.48.

Your CN link: https://www.amazon.ca/Dometic-385311.../dp/B004SNJPV0

The USA link: https://www.amazon.com/Dometic-Sanit...zcF9hdGY&psc=1

Whether the difference is "supply and demand", exchange rates, business decisions, competition or ???? is something "hidden in the corporate bowels"...

I can't explain the difference, and in this case, I'd probably defer to a MUCH cheaper aftermarket valve to replace what's obviously so far over priced that it has lost all it's "OEM value"....

Here's one "Amazon Canadian aftermarket replacement" that, in all probability, once it's installed, you'll not be able to tell the difference. It lists for $25.50 https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B096QRJ5RG/...T1zcF9kZXRhaWw

There's a reason why people used to install aftermarket radios in cars and trucks (perceived improved sound and amplification)... Might find a similar aspect with an aftermarket toilet valve... At 4 for the price of one OEM valve, I'd be inclined to "dance with that partner"......

The new spendy Dometic valve is already installed but I think I will order the aftermarket one for 25.50 and keep it as a spare, definitely worth a shot as the OEM valve doesn't seem to have great longevity anyway.
Thanks for the link.

I can't prove this, but I strongly suspect that the OEM "high cost" valve is the manufactured in the same china plastics plant that manufactures the aftermarket "low cost" valve..... The ones I've seen look identical (looks can be deceiving), feel the same, have the same "freeze moldings" and some of them even have similar numbers and mold markings.

One thing, at least for me, is that having a spare available almost always assures the installed part will NEVER fail.....

Thanks for the link.

I keep one in the spare box. Haven't needed it but sure as I didn't have it one would break in the middle of nowhere and it would be a week to get one so I just look at it in the box from time to time.
