A.C. shroud hack.

My roof is white, all three of my Maxxair vent covers are white, so I decided to paint my a.c. cover white to match. Not only for aesthetic reasons but also for more efficient operation. I'd read that people who spent a lot of time in the warmer sunnier climates got better performance out of their a.c. units when they were covered with reflectex or swapped their black covers for white ones. So I decided to first go with the $25 dollar hack and start with 2 cans of Rustoleum and 2 cans of clear lacquer. I even put a cheesy decal on it to create a factory made look. We'll see how it holds up after a few hundred miles.

Looks great! Good job.

Please report back on how the paint holds up against the weather and wind.

Cheers!

If you need to re-do it, try Krylon Fusion. No prep needed, just knock the dirt off. It's made for plastics.
It has worked well on my cabover for plastic outlet covers, switch covers, etc.
