LP regulator swap out

Hello all, I’m just finding out about a recall on the N17-19 LP regulators, I have an N18.

The dealers in my area have nothing in stock and the recall line is long.

Just wondering, is there any conflict with swapping out my current regulator for one I can readily get online? I can’t find anything online saying that it can’t be done, but wanted to ask the real experts, you!

Thanks in advance for any and all wisdom/ advice!

Welcome to the forum

As long as the replacement has the same specs, your good.

What type of regulator do you have? What is your trailer and LP tank setup, what size tanks etc.? A lot more information would be helpful. In lieu of that here is the link (I believe) to the recall;

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/202...1V425-3062.PDF

Note that the N17-N19 are the date codes and they are WinnTec regulators (3rd & 4th boxes down). On page 2 under description of remedy it states to replace with a Fairview GR994 or YSN Import. You can get (or used to) Fairviews easily on the internet. I'm not a fan of them and remove them then replace with Marshall Excelsior.

Interesting. Just last month I had a pretty bad propane leak. I didn't see anything obvious so off to the dealer.
He said the regulator was bad. It should push 11" of water and mine was pushing 27".

Took a while to get a replacement which I thought was strange, I mean a propane regulator? How hard can it be?

Too bad I don't know the brand of the old one.
The new one is totally different without an automatic switch over. I never used that feature anyway.

Yes over 150K regulators have been recalled, and therefore a parts shortage (once again)

We recommend Marshall Excelsior regulators.

We just replaced our regulator after it stopped working (11 months old). Our service dealer (Johnnie Walker - Las Vegas) only had 3 in stock. Normally they have a dozen or so.

Just check your spec's to get a compatible one.

Happy RVing
