HDMI Cable

Hi my brilliant friends. Keystone gave us $ to replace our brand new defective summit tv. I am kinda tech savvy but I need your help. Why do we have an HDMI cable coming out of wall along with the catv cable. Next to it. I assume it is for a dish or directv box but where is the other end of it? Should I get up and go look down in the hold? I’m sure I’ll feel dummo when you explain it. TIA

Is it for the DVD player ? Or over the air digital signals for the tv? That’s my guess

Depending on where the other end is, you could use to view on your television screen (Input), a computer screen, a gaming console, or reverse it to (Output) use for a sound system.

My guess is, it was originally intended for a sound system. Check inside the cabinet (behind the wall) where your entertainment center is located for the other end.

A photo would be nice, including some of the stuff that is in the vicinity (like the radio). I've never seen a setup where plug-ended cables are installed hanging from holes in the wall (other than some that homeowners cobbled together themselves).

I am assuming this is on your new trailer? Was it attached to the old Summit TV? If so I would think it goes to the stereo/DVD receiver. Easiest way to find out is to pull the receiver out of its little cubby hole and see if that cable isn't attached to the back.

On another note; don't know how many HDMI ports that Summit had on it but if like my Furrion it has one. When I pulled that Furrion out one of the reasons (other than it was just junk) was to have more HDMI ports (I wanted 3). I wanted a Samsung but they only offered 2 in my size TV so went with Vizio. The additional HDMI ports sure give you more flexibility with "stuff".

Thanks to all, and particularly to you, Sourdough and Jasin. Yes, it is for the DVD player. Radio works without it, but Yup, this HDMI cable is for the player. We haven't had a dvd player in 15+ years so it just didn't occur to me!
