To me it looks like the remains of a connection to a power tongue jack. I believe the negative in the frame and the positive is one fused wire to the battery.

Did you buy the trailer used? Maybe the previous owner took the tongue jack and put on a manual one?

Yes Purchased used - the previous owner only used it twice so doubt he had a power tongue jack but we are planning on adding one so good to know this is the place to get power for it!

Being how they can be quite expensive, but easy to install or uninstall, it wouldn't surprise me if someone pulled it off before selling. I wouldn't have. In fact I didn't because I still have the old hand crank in my garage lol.

Have you tried looking under the trailer to see if you have a wire dangling under there? You need to disconnect it if it goes nowhere so it doesn’t short out on something..take the fuse out if it’s not already removed

Here's another picture - the wire from the positive cable has a 10 amp fuse and dead ends hanging in space as shown.

From the negative post there is a cable with a red and black wired fused together and leading into the trailer frame; there is also a second red wire which is separate coming from the trailer frame but not connected to anything.

Gotta love a puzzle!

When you say coming from the frame what do you mean? Bolted to the frame ? Or passing through the frame

So how do we figure out IF those two wires should be connected and what they go to? Everything in the trailer appears to be working as it should.

Could be a furnace wire or water heater…could also be co detectors I guess

Need to trace it back or look over everything…may even be electric brakes

Since it's a 2020 hideout it could even be part of the solar charging package

My solar ready plug looks just like that on my passport... looks like it got cut off at the connector that would lead to the solar plug...
The other end with the in line fuse would go to the + post...
At least on mine...

I’d check the fuse after you figure out if that is where it connects…it may have blown if the wire touched the frame …it probably goes to the dangling red wire but anything is possible ..

The wires enter the housing of the trailer thru a hole that is bonded with "goop". Looks like we will need to track down a wiring diagram for this model

I may not have explained this properly. This is a bonded cable that has two parts - one wire is black and red; the other is red. The red wire has been "peeled" back an not connected to anything. The black and red wire is mounted to the negative post

If you know how to use a multimeter you can check continuity from one of the solar charge ports to the dangling red wire..the other will show continuity to the frame ..I guess to be safe you could disconnect the battery while checking it

That sounds right. The one that black and red is the ground wire the all red should be positive wire ..it’s almost too coincidental to be anything else but I’d still verify with a meter

Hats off to Javi

Thanks - furnace, water heater and brakes all working as they should.
Will find a wiring manual to see if we can figure this out.

Thanks - this unit DOES have a solar port! Hubby was an electrical engineer so I know he can do that! LOL
