Another Newbe

After 3-4 months of research we bought a Copper Canyon 273FWRET from RV Wholesalers on Nov 30, 2010, to be delivered to RVW around last of January . We're looking forward to RVing but have a few concerns.

Major concern is that we can have the unit delivered to Georgia for a little more that it would cost to go get it but then we wouldn't get to check it out at the dealer. Seems very important to us, any thoughts?

Although we just joined the forum, I have been looking at it for a month or so and am impressed with the content and the way people share information.

Thanks, JT

That is a balancing act and one that I would favor going to the dealership to do a PDI before paying for the trailer. I guess it all depends on how much faith you have in the dealer. I've heard good things about this dealer but that's no guarantee that all will be ok on delivery.

I would agree with Flyguy regarding making a trip to thoroughly check out and go over your new unit before you accept it. You will be parting with a fair amount of $$$$ and; if it were me, I would want to do a comprehensive PDI before writing out a cheque. You are right -it is an important part of buying an RV or making any major purchase.

Glad you found us and we are looking forward to your participation. Welcome and Happy New Year.

Do yourself a BIG favor....take the advice on checklists and USE them. GO to the dealership and take delivery there....learn all you can...We bought a 5er and had it deivered to N GA mountains home RV base because we had no hauler at the time. Delivery took place in the midst of the worst rain storm to hit the area in years. Short changed ourselves on inspection and information.
Had an electrical short which took a lot of haggling with the factory to finally get a partial refund. Cable port is still "dead"..

If I had it to do over, even without a tow vehicle; would have made a return trip to the dealer and completed a thorough, comprehensive; detailed; working knowledge of everything in that RV BEFORE I wrote the check...no turning back once the cash changes hands. My dealership was only responsive on wanting an excellent survey rating (not)...I have YET to EVER receive a return call from them.....it's been 8 months now....I think you get the message....
