Happijac Bunk Bed Mod
What modifications have you made to your garage bunk beds to make them more usable?
One of the 3 cross boards broke on our top bunk first time getting up there. So I cut two 23/32 pine plywood sheet to fit across the width of the trailer and screwed it in place. Much better and will support two adults now.
The lower couches/bed had all the tek screws stripped out on delivery. I asked the dealer to address, they didn't do anything. The couches were unusable as they were not attached. The screws fell out in transit, lol. I reattached with peel rivets. Much better and solid. No looseness in the system now.

My Fuzion 301 Toyhauler is a conventional style trailer, not a 5th wheel. The bunk beds in the garage would only raise to about 6,1 feet high. I am 6,2 so when I walked through the garage I had to duck my head to keep from slamming my head into the support brackets. Im not sure when Lippert started offering the Swing Down brackets but it was after 2014. I was able to get a set of those from Lippert so that I could modify my bunks. It was not that difficult to do and they are a very worthwhile upgrade if you are a tall guy.

Before my disabled brother-in-law passed away last year, I used the happi-jack system to raise and lower his hospital bed to make room for our toys. I had removed the couches and fabricated some brackets to attach his bed to the lift mechanism. Now that he is gone, I have put the couches back in.

Since we very seldom use the Happijac Bed/Sofa, I now use the upper bed area for lightweight storage items....broom, leaf blower w/gutter attachment (modified) for blowing off the top of the slides and awning, etc. Also, a week or two ago I added two clothes rods to the bottom of the sofa braces. It makes a nice, out of the way place to hang towels etc from the shower...also a raincoat or umbrella if it's wet. Nothing earth shattering as far as mods, but every little bit helps to be more organized.

Zappa I am in the same situation you were. Do I just contact lippert for the swing down brackets or do I need to get part numbers first. Also is it a direct bolt on to the original seats that are in the happyjack now. Mines a 2015 carbon TT

Zappa, my Carbon has the swing down brackets, and I can use the extra overhead clearance for my SxS. Do you or do you know if it's OK to travel with them in the side hanging position, or maybe bungee them against the wall?

I use the garage of my Fuzion as my office when I'm not traveling. I took out the sofas and added a table top from Ikea on one side. Bonus is that I have a standing desk now as well.
I still have the brackets on the other side if I ever want to mount something on the opposing wall. I also got rid of the mattress on the bed platform and use it for storage. Works great for me!

That mod ^^^^^^, is pure genius, especially if you don't want or need the sofa. I am going to have to call you out though on your choice of an "office" chair.....you need an upgrade from the folding chair.

Thanks! Yeah, still need to find a solid office chair that I can easily stow/tie down. My Victory Vision takes up a lot of room in the garage when I'm traveling.
I'm also really damn picky about my chairs, and don't want to spend money beyond the folding one until I find the right one.

When I was a young man (years and years ago), I worked with an "older" fellow who always said...."A good place to sit down means a lot." The older I get, the truer those words become!

I removed the u shaped dinette and added 1/4' luan plywood to the top bunk and use that space for storage. Would love to add the walk through lower sofa/bunk, but they are pretty expensive.

Hoping you're still around - how did you do the desk mod? Does the desk swing down like the couches did if you don't want it in the way? I want to do the same thing but I need it to also fold down when I don't want it there.

So, chances are that smgreen1976 will likely not see your question.

Fuzion 417, and i couldn't agree more. The rear beds are crap lol. Our 6 year old sleeps on the top bunk. But as she gets older ill be adding some sheet good to make it a level surface plus the addition of better foam of course. The bottom bunk is a whole different story. I don't know who could actually sleep on those lumpy things lol. The center consuls make it even worse. No sane adult could sleep there. throwing another foam mattress might help, but that's more to pack around. If we keep the trailer, I may end up changing the backs of the couches to a flat back.

Hi Smgreen, any chance you still have the pass through roo over sofas and brackets? If yes, would you consider selling them?

I add more legs to the bottom bed . At the lake campers set up canopies more then occasional the wind picks them up and rolls them and there left behind . That’s when I come along and salvage a few square legs with the lock tabs . The tubing make good legs for the under constructed bed .

We added a foam topper to the upper bunk for the grandkids which they liked but, with the bunk all the way up, the fabric blocked the garage AC air flow. I drilled new holes for the support pins about a foot lower so that the air flowed better and allowed me to keep cool (my office occasionally) but still high enough to walk under and not impact the Harley storage.

I'm trying to sub out the two sofas for another queen bed in our Fuzion 424. Does anyone have a lead on a kit for this?

I have a 2009 Fuzion FZ402 with a sit and sleep sofa that I am wanting to sub out for the opposing roll over sofa set.
I'm in Phoenix, AZ and willing to figure something out if it's a winning match
