KOA Harpers Ferry

All,

We are planning the first trip with our new 5th the end of March. We are heading to Harpers Ferry KOA. Can anyone provide any helpful hints about this campground?

Thanks

Wrightfr58,

We have been there three times and have enjoyed our stay each time. The Hosts and staff are very helpful. All the 50amp sites are pull-thru and big rig friendly. The only rule I can think of is Have Fun!

Harpers Ferry KOA

We live very close to there, actually about 10mins! Really have enjoyed our times down there, originally went down years ago to just plain try-out and get used to our new trailer. After that, we just go down there when we feel like it and can get in. Prime season it's a busy place and very full, hard for us to go there now with the SRX, to big to get into the small sites in the woods. They have a large area in the open for big units, however again it's a busy place. We commute from up here down to N. Virginia all week long, it's nice having a place so close and it's a very well run place. Enjoy your stay!

Ditto the other posts. That's a nice KOA and when we've stayed it's been very busy, but the staff is great. A recent mailer they sent introduced a new campground manager this season. The roads through the campground are a bit tight, especially when really busy. It's convenient that it's right next to the Harpers Ferry visitors center and River Riders. Enjoy your trip. We'll be doing our season-inaugural trip at the end of March at Elk Neck St. Park. Hope the wind dies down before then :-)

koa harpers ferry

very nice campground, great pool, huge pull through in the middle sites, great if your wife likes to shop in the town of Harpers Ferry, great for history buffs. they also have a night time haunted ghost story tour that was fun.

Harpers Ferry KOA

Fred, We camped a couple of years ago in our pop-up. Our campsite was small, and on a hill. I liked it, Diana did not, There were people walking around with open alcohol containers and Matt was little at the time.

For me, great view of mts west of Leesburg. I also liked the pool and the close proximity to the Harpers Ferry. Maybe we'll return someday.

A question for those that have been here.. My wife and I are going next week. I actually have 2 sites reserved, a 50A pull thru in the middle, and a 30A pull thru in the trees. I can live with the 30A to enjoy some shade, but was wondering how tight they are. I have a 325SRX 5'er, and we will have the goldwing with us.

How big are the 30A sites? Are they flat, or hilly? Which would you chose?

We go to the casino and dry camp for 2 days and then go to the campground some of the upper sites are tight for bigger campers because of the way that they are ,they are straight in instead of angled we usaly get site 32 or 33 they are good for a 43ft 5th wheel.nice campground all together. If you need wood theres a man just outside the campground that sells cheap wood.Lots of ghost tours and stuff like that around town.
