Lippert Leveling System
Good morning. 2022 Montana 3791RD Legacy Package. 5th wheel was parked on incline with nose down (rear end higher than front). Disconnected from truck as I was switching tow vehicles and had to do in this position. Front jacks came down and took unit off fifth wheel. All was great. Backed new tow vehicle into the hitch and front jacks would not retract. Kicked an error on leveling system. Display beeped and advised "Error - Front too low". Attempted to manually retract front jacks and received same error message. After working the problem for 20 minutes I was thinking "manual retraction". I was reading all the manuals when I came across the section on Zero Point Calibration. I suspected that the problem was the built in sensors didn't like the incline where I was parked. I re-calibrated the zero point from the position I was sitting and it tricked the system into allowing me to retract the front jacks. I will need to level the unit and than perform Zero Point Calibration again to allow auto leveling to work properly.
The built in safety features functioned perfectly. I understand why it kicked the error. Unfortunately, not everyone can drop and hook in the best conditions.
I hope this "work around" will help others that may encounter this type of situation.
