Hello from Canada!

Hi there! We are Steve and Denise and this year we had purchased a trailer on a seasonal site. We have a gorgeous double lot that is treed on two sides and only one neighbor behind us. We quickly realized that with our seven dogs, (yes really seven ranging from a Great Dane mix to a Miniature Longhaired Dachshund), the trailer we bought was too small. We have since purchased a Keystone Residence 40LOFT and are very much looking forward to having it on site in April of 2023! We are still fairly new to this life and hoping to learn lots from you all! Thank you and have a great day!

Welcome! A signature is required on this forum. It helps when questions are asked. First question is how the heck do you folks work out seven dogs in a camper? Do you have pet doors? And no one will believe you have seven dogs unless you provide some pictures as evidence. We have eight dogs currently and never take more than two camping (little ones and old who are camper friendly). Out mutts range from about 5 lbs to about 140 lbs and the big guy needs a huge pet door to get outside that would allow minature horse to get though.

Also, gets chilly up north. Suggest you peruse the threads regarding cold weather camping. There are plenty on this forum. Good luck!

Here are a couple photos of our dogs.
In the picture of 5 these are the dogs from top to bottom:
Kira - 4 year old blind Cretan Hound who is a rescue from Greece; 39lbs
Monsieur Oliver - on the left - 4 year old Miniature Longhaired Dachshund; 11.2lbs
Sandie - on the right - 3 year old Cretan Hound/Kokoni mix and Kira's puppy; 32lbs
Lily - 10 year old Great Dane/Yellow Lab mix; 89lbs
Cooper - 12 year old Rottweiler; 89lbs
In the picture of the 2 dogs:
Ryder - on the bottom - 4 month old Standard Longhaired Dachshund; 16.8lbs
Whiskey - on the top - 4 month old Standard Longhaired Dachshund; 16.2lbs

Our first trailer was definitely too small for all of our babies as they all come with us each weekend. Our campground loves dogs, thankfully, so no one minds our dogs. Part of the reason we chose the Residence 40LOFT is because of the room and in particular the loft. This is perfect for us when we are there and need to go out but leave the dogs there. The room is great to set up the kennels for the four smaller dogs and there is still plenty of room for the three larger dogs. We also have doggy gates to keep them from areas when we don't want them on top of us lol! We are really looking forward to next spring and being with the dogs at our site which is quite large, (it is a double lot), and we are setting up a fence so the dogs can just roam the lot without being tethered. Will definitely add photos of that!

Fences are a great idea if they are possible. I kind of get irritated with folks that let their dogs run loose. We have about 1/2 acre of chain link fence dog run and the bottom of the fence is buried in concrete. We have spent a LOT of money making our home dog friendly... 4 pet doors, a wall to partition our living room, a 1/2 door to keep the dogs from the rear bedrooms. flooring that is dog proof and a large couch for Presley so he can stretch out (the BIG dog).

We don't believe in letting our dogs run loose unless it is in a fenced in area. What dogs do you have? Pictures?

Welcome to the forum from Winnipeg. We also bought the 40FLFT double loft and have it on a seasonal lot. However we only have 4 puppers with us, We did fence in part of our yard at the site with a system from Home Depot that is now two years old and still holding up well. It is removable if ever necessary. I have attached a few photos and if you need more information on the fencing let me know. Its a great trailer and we really enjoyed our first season in it. I will give you one piece of advice, on ours they had the low point drains next to the bedroom door on the deck side of the trailer. This would mean crawling underneath to drain the water at the end of season (assuming you build a deck next to the trailer as we have). Have them extend them to the other side or the front for easier access.

Hope you enjoy your new trailer.

Hi! That fence looks great! What is it? Will check on the drainage right away. Thanks for the tip!

Steve.Deni.
Noticed a couple of your posts you do have a signature, not sure why all don't, but there's no information about your rv in that signature?
Your pet information doesn't help when asking about issues with your rv.
All that's required is the year, make & model of your rv, since basically it's a park model no tow vehicle information is necessary.
