New Cougar 316RLS Owner

Hello all. We purchased a new ‘22 Cougar 316RLS a couple of weeks ago. It’s a replacement for our old Denali 289RK.

We took it out last week for a 4 day shake out trip. Went pretty well. Just two somewhat serious gigs.

1. The furnace won’t stay lit. (Yes, the gas it on). The blower cranks, burner lights and fires for about 15 seconds then shuts off.

2. The brakes can’t be adjusted to hold the trailer when I manually apply them thru the controller.

Found a couple of minor plumbing leaks and one of the blinds isn’t working correctly.

All together, we really like it.

Welcome to the forum you

1) furnace- probably the igniter/flame sensor.

2) Brakes- should be self adjusting. Take it out and do about 30 MPH, then brake hard. You may have to do this a number of times. If they are self adjusting they will only adjust going forward, opposite of the old car brakes.

Glad you like your new rig, both issues should be a warranty item, so you may want to contact your selling dealer. There is a short time ( I think 60 days) on brake adjustment.

We got the same trailer back in May and it has been pretty solid so far. As for the brakes, our Ram 2500 has two settings for the electric brakes (light and heavy if I remember right). Light on 10 wasn't strong enough but around 6-7 with it set to heavy has worked well. Hopefully it's something easy like that

Welcome from south Georgia and congrats on your new Cougar. I also did not initially realize my Ram was set on "light electric" brakes. Changed it to "heavy electric" and the brakes have worked perfectly ever since.

Hello and welcome!

Congrats on the new Cougar! Glad to hear you like it, and once the bugs are worked out you'll like it even more!

Take care in your travels.
