Hello from Pauls Valley

Hello All. We just purchased a 2021 Cougar 29RKS. It will be just for my wife and I (and dog) to travel so we did not need a large trailer. We have not picked it up yet. Going to add a fifth wheel hitch to our Sierra 2500 (diesel) very soon. Hope to pull the trailer to our house and start to get to know it. Then off on short trips around Ok and North Texas. (Winstar Casino perhaps)

We did have a 2004 keystone mountaineer, but put it on our nearby property as a second place to retreat to (We were living north of OKc til recently). Just sold it to someone who wants to use it in a similar fashion.

I have lots of staying in a fifth wheel experience but pretty much zero towing/parking aside from the 80 mile trip we took 7 years ago after we bought it.

I will have lots of questions when I pick it up in a couple of weeks.

Welcome to the forum! Take it home and camp in it a few days like you were living in it. Or, you might have some RV campgrounds nearby that would then allow you to hook up the sewer etc. OR! For that first trip I think I would hit Lake Texoma vs a casino!

Congrats on the new camper. In August I stayed overnight going to and coming from Knoxville Iowa at a campground just down the road from you: Rocky Point Campground in Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Very nice campground. Great price with the senior pass. WalMart and McDonalds on the way in and out. Easy on and off to I 35. I filed that one away in my memory.

We are deep deep into genealogy. Wife has lots of kinfolk in Orange….Linscomb, Peveto, Hogg, Bland, Wiley, Chisholm.
I’m a Cole, Simmons, Hayes.
Wife has the old family farm in Mauriceville at the dead end of FM 1442 and
FM 1136, under the TV station antennae.
I just did one night stays at Chickasaw. There were a couple of large 5th wheels on my loop. We usually stop at Winstar when through that area but Chickasaw is the winner now.
Cheap diesel at the Chickasaw Phillips 66 out on I 35.

Mr. GH

I have a cousin (and her husband) in Orange, Green Stoffer, empty nesting now. We have some relatives in Sulphur and Lake Charles, the Pleasents and I haven't seen them in 10 years. Then onto Abbeville where there are many Nunez's. And on the wife side lots of relatives in Fayetteville Tex. where she is from.
