Door Holdback

We have a 2014 Keystone Sprinter Copper Canyon 269fwrls. The entry door does not have anything to hold it open other than the hinge being stiff. On strong windy days, it blows closed. Our previous 3 campers had hold back latches. What type are people using to hold their doors and is it ok to drill the door and siding to install them? I see many choices when looking online.

Sounds like your friction hinges have worn out.

If you can open your door so that it is nearly flat to the side of the camper, and you have a smooth fiberglass exterior, I would suggest all-weather magnets. I added them to mine and there is no drilling to the door or camper wall and they are strong enough that my door has never blown shut in 3 camping seasons in some pretty damn windy places.

That’s a great idea. Did the self adhesive pads that come on them work good enough or did you have to use something else to hold them on?

Mine came with 3M VHB pads (Very High Bond), and they are great

As with any adhesive surface prep is essential. Clean the door and side well then use alcohol pads (typically supplied with the product) to remove any wax on the surface in the area.
