Axle Identification
Hello all--
New to the site.
Purchased a used 2011 Outback 250RS last year.
I do most of my own work on my vehicles, boats, trailers.
Would like to service bearings, seals, and inspect brakes on my Outback.
Would like to order.... seals, bearing kits, and potentially brake assemblies (as needed).
Contacted Keystone CS and they gave me the name and weight rating for axle, but nothing more.
Al-Ko-Kober
4400#
I looked at axle and could not find and decals, tags, or stickers that identify axle. There is some stencil painted white markings.....
Not very clear, but I believe they read....
T4485/68 5-TMUI
Backing plates have stamped numbers in rear:
0111 482
PRI-GG SEC-GG
10 x 2 1/4 ELEC
AL-KO
Where can I find axle information beyond the painted white letters that I found?

It's the Al Ko axle owner's handbook...
Al Ko is no longer in business, but Dexter Axle bought them a few years ago and their axles are still being produced by Dexter. There are a couple of models that are out of production and if I remember correctly, you can no longer get brake assemblies or hubs for them from a "new parts retailer". But as far as I know, the bearings, seals, magnets and brake shoes are still available.
The listing for the Al Ko 4400 axle parts is in the chart on page 20.
Oh, and the T4485/68 5-TMUI that you found:
T= Trailer
44= axle series
85/68 5 = 85" hub face measurement and 68.5" spring hanger measurement.
TMUI (I believe) is the hub manufacturer that was used to cast the specific hubs.

Thanks for the great info., very much appreciated!
Wouldn't you know it.....the bearing seals for my axle states, "N/A"
Also, I believe the inner bearing/cup #s appear to be incorrect for the 4400# axle.
Wonder why just my axle....must be my luck
NOTE: I attached a different version of the AL-KO owner's manual.
It shows different part #s for outer bearing cup/cone...
Now I'm really confused!

Digging deeper, what I'd posted may be incorrect, so this is the "deeper dig version"....
It looks like the outer bearing and race are "bigger on the 4400 pound axle than the 3500 pound axle. Dexter does the same with the 5200 and 6000 pound axles. It's the same spindle, same inner bearing/race but the heavier axle has a larger outer bearing/race...
Apparently they did the same with the 3500/4400 pound axle....
So you might need to actually pull a hub and get the numbers off one of your existing bearing/race to make sure you are getting the same internal parts.
I'd make an educated guess that since the spindle is the same and the hub is the same, the seals are the same ....

Inner bearing cone: L68149
Inner bearing cup (race): L68111
Outer Bearing cone: LM67048
Outer bearing cup (race): LM67010
Grease Double lip seal:
568861 (AL-KO#)

473336 (Timken#)

Yep, I think you've got the right numbers... Trying to find parts for "orphan axles" is like trying to find parts for a 1962 Tempest <sigh> LOL
Anyway, once you get them and get started, I'd pull a hub and verify the numbers with your list before packing grease in all the "new bearings" That way, if the "best guess" doesn't pan out, you can always return them without having to clean them first
