Maxxair vent covers
I ordered and received two Maxxair vent covers that are 11” tall and my vents open to 13” tall. Maxxair claims the auto electric vents will stop when they don’t open all the way and these will work fine. Are they blowing smoke up my kazoo?
If they’ll work I’ll keep em but I’m wary of these.

From the Maxxair FAQ's:
https://www.airxcel.com/rv/maxxair/s.../maxxair-faqs#
3. My fan will not fully open underneath the MAXXAIR II, will this damage the fan or restrict the airflow?
A. All vent covers are approximately the same height. All automatic opening lids on high-powered fans are equipped with current sensing circuits that will automatically shut off the lift motor when an obstruction is encountered or the lid reaches the end of its travel. This is normal and will not cause excess wear or shorten the life of the fan.
The small amount that the lid does not open underneath a vent cover has no effect on the airflow. Our testing has shown that once the lid is open approximately 50% that the fan will achieve maximum airflow.
It is safe to install a vent cover on any style high-powered fan.
We had power opening Maxxair fans in our Holiday Rambler. They always stopped opening when they hit an obstacle and stayed at that angle until they were closed. We never had any damage from the cover "powering through the block and breaking" or from "going into lockout and having to be manually closed or disabling the rain sensor system....

Ours is the same. It hits the cover but doesn't hurt a thing and works like it's supposed to.

Yup I've had the Maxair covers on since 2015. The kitchen powered vent will hit the top of the cover and the power to the motor shuts off.. Never had any issues in 7 years of use. Great covers and easy to open up if you need to do any sealant inspection and such around the existing covers

Actually, that's a good question, Brent. This will be the first summer that the RV is in storage. Generally we're living in it in Wisconsin. This summer we're taking the Salem and living in it for the first time.

No harm in asking. Brenda is getting her physician to alter the PT prescription to take place in Wisconsin rather than Florida after the 1st of May. She went 12 months without using that leg and it is still extremely weak. If the PT continues to make good progress then we will leave for Alaska about the first week of August, stop in Sturgis for a few days on the way, and then return from Alaska the end of September. Right now the PT and the leg are the governing factions.
As much as we all detest the phrase, 'there is always next year.' And, yes, it pains me to have said it, because there ISN'T always next year.
