I’m trying to avoid his issue. Holding it in an extra few seconds hearing the motors bind is ok?

That would depend on the type of slideout you have. You didn't share that information or any other information about your camper. It really helps you get answers with more context if you add a signature. It's real easy. Just go to the top left corner of the page and click on "UserCP". Add the make, model, and year of your trailer and tow vehicle and save it. Then that info will appear in each of your posts.

Watch this video. Begin at 7:00 minutes in the video. I think this may help you a lot. Watch the entire section on the Schwinteck system. If you are interested, watch the entire video that covers all the types of slide systems.

I think the Schwinteck system will be explained in simple terms that will help you a lot.

If your slide is a schwintek, then yes you hold the button until the motors quit making noise (amp out). If your’s isn’t a schwintek then no you don’t.
