Does anyone know what this switch is?

This switch is in my new (to me, 2005 Cougar) camper. Does anyone happen to know what it is used for?

Thanks in advance.

Joe

That appears to be a thermostat. What brand is your air conditioner. Joe, it would be very helpful to go to the UserCP and create a signature with year. make and model of your camper and the same for your tow vehicle.

Odd looking thermostat…..just guessing but wonder if there is a preset heat and cool set point possible dip switches for different temp settings or combination of button presses to set temp…the timer is strange maybe it’s a multi day timer for setting how long you want the tstat to work. Like for a weekend or week..after that it would shutoff. Thinking it’s for a seasonal trailer where you don’t want guests forgetting to turn it off?

Edit: I found this pic from an older thread. Looks like I was way off lol.. should be a remote for it also this was the thread you can search. Haven’t figured out how to link ….just figured it out

This thread in a "sister forum" is a long, boring, highly detailed 18 page discussion about that thermostat/HVAC remote control system....

https://www.montanaowners.com/forums...trol,%20center

It's outdated, you likely won't find any replacement parts for it, probably won't even find any manuals or troubleshooting guides for the system. Trying to locate any tech data on the system is probably going to be next to impossible. I'd suspect you'll find the engineer drawings for the Model A engine crank easier to locate than the owner's manual on that HVAC control system....

Fortunately, the link above includes a "how to" to convert that outdated, antiquated, failure prone system to something that's more reliable and easier to maintain.....

Posts 343 and 344 in the linked thread are a fairly good summary of what worked to replace the no longer supported "HVAC remote technology".

I was watching a video on an older RV a few days back trying to figure out the thermostat situation. Something that looked like that (a remote) WAS the thermostat and it had a little holster type holder on the wall. Guess that is something along that line?? Glad I don't have one.
