Howdy, new member from Texas

We just purchased our 5th wheel, our first rv. We are outdoors folks, and not new to living on the road (we had a LQ horse trailer that we used often when I roped), and we live 30 miles from "anywhere". We look forward to the freedom of hooking up an seeing the country on our own time and schedule.

If you list Eden as the nearest town, then you have a Dairy Queen! That means you are close to civilization (DQ means a town is a town; TX law I think). Anyway welcome to the forum from the south edge of the Hill Country in Medina County!

My nearest DQ is about 30 miles away but so is San Antonio which is far too close these days.

Yes, that is too close to that big of a city. Eden has the DQ, the city cafe, a part-time open diner, 3 gas stations and one light...that's big enough for us. We are about 3 miles from San Angelo, it's plenty big for all of our needs.

My wife and I travel around the state quite a bit on our trike. We have been through Eden and San Angelo quite a few times. A favorite of ours is the steak house in Lowake, and once, along with another couple, ate in Coopers BBQ in Llano, Mason and San Angelo all in one day on an eating run. I was younger then though.

The Lowake steak house is now in Rowena.

Last time we went was during the rodeo in San Angelo and we rode around that big man made lake or reservoir (can't recall name), think it was a Corp of Engineers project. Lots of blue bonnets up around that big lake.

If it was the lake to the SW of Angelo, it was Twin Buttes. I've made that ride many times.

Welcome Ranger from W TX. Have made many, many trips through your part of the country. A welcome respite from the brown fields and dirt in my location.

Funny -- when we hook up our RV and go to Texas, that's our favorite place to end up!
