propane alarm
Keystone 28' Cougar 2014 We have had it stored with electricity going to it. It has an alarm that I think is the wired in propane alarm. We took batteries out of other alarms. Propane alarm blinks green and red in no predictable pattern and doesn't seem to quite correlate with when the alarm beeps. Propane is off and disconnected. Windows open. No idea how to fix this. Thanks for any help.
(Only other questionable connection to beeping might somehow be from the solar panels that go to the batteries?)

Can you post make/model number of the detector?
My gut response is that the detector is indicating that it has reached it's 7 year since powered up end-of-life notice and requires replacement.

I would think the LP/CO monitor has expired. Look up the brand and model number and find the manual to find out what the lights are telling you.

If you've stored it with the battery disconnect in the disconnected position that bypasses the converter resulting in dead batteries.
Otherwise as stated time to replace the detector. With a 2014, could've built as early as March 2013, the detector could be 7+ years old.

If it's like mine..... unscrew it from the wall (2 screws) and gently pull it out. The wires from the Detector will go to "wire-nuts" that connect to wires that go inside the wall. They might have black electrical tape over them. Should be 2 (maybe 3) of them. With power disconnected, remove the black electrical tape and then unscrew the wire-nuts to separate the wires. Keep track of the colors of the wires and which wire-nuts they go to as the replacement detector should be the same and will need to be wired the same.

A little "hint": Before you start disconnecting the wires, take a couple of photos of the wiring. That way, when you get ready to install the new one, if there's a question of which wire goes where, you can check the photos....

Hi Pam,
I think we have the same detector?
attached is the link for what I just purchased. The original didn't have the co detector. I didn't even have to take the anchor plate out, snipped two wires, one red, one black and connected same, and slipped back onto anchor plate.
The price is Canadian, I didn't pay that, mine was $95. I didn't have the space to buy a different brand. Notice the on the face it is good for 60 months from date of install.
They come in a I think 3 different colours.
Good Luck

Mine tells you in print on the unit near the light what the colors of the light mean. It is a Attwood brand.

Slow progress. I got the unit off the wall and the fuse pulled so beeping is stopped. I can not see where it is wired in - no connectors that are reachable. Should I cut the wires? Ordered a new one.

I cut the wires and used butt connectors and taped them up.

It should be hardwired directly to the coach battery, which just one of the reasons for dead batteries when stored without removing battery cables.
