Smile Greetings Fellow Campers

Purchased a Keystone Passport 219BH in February 2022 (have previously owned two other travel trailers). Tow vehicle is 2019 Lexus GX460. Mostly typical problems with unit. Hoping fellow campers can provide assistance as needed.

For the safety of you, yours and others on the road, please check your door sticker cargo rating. Car and Driver lists maximum tongue weight with weight distribution hitch at 650 pounds. The typical estimate of 13% of max trailer rating which Keystone lists as 6,430 is 836 pounds. You could be dangerously over weight for that vehicle. As has been stated many times, this is not to rain on your parade, but a safety concern for everyone.

I assume with a BH there will be more than 2 adults onboard, more people = more stuff in the vehicle & rv, more stuff = more weight.
With a SUV as a tow vehicle the more seats filled = less payload for tongue weight.
I agree, you need to check the payload on that SUV then crunch some numbers. However there are 2 numbers that you DO NOT need;
#1 the max tow rating on your SUV, you WILL exceed the available payload & most likely the rear axle weight rating before you'll ever tow a rv near that advertised tow rating. This is simply a sales gimmick in an attempt to one up the competition & arrived at by the manufacturers under perfect conditions, not an everyday rv experience.
#2 The dry weight of ANY rv, that's what it weighed as it rolled out of the factory door, no batteries, no propane & no dealer added options it may get. Unless you are a rv delivery driver you will NEVER tow a rv anywhere near it's dry weight.

Thanks for concerns raised

Appreciate your concerns. The Lexus is basically a truck--body on frame construction. Measured tongue weight is 550 lbs (I bought a scale). There's about 1500 lbs of available payload each for the vehicle and the trailer for bodies, fuel and "stuff". (I KNOW that's not a total of 3,000 lbs!) I use a weight-distribution (E2) hitch, as I did with my two previous unibody tow vehicles, with smaller/lighter trailers.

Not wanting to belabor the point as you seem confident, but...

The GX460 is simply a 4Runner all gussied up with more plastic and a small V8 - a weak one just like the V6 in the 4Runner. The frame of the 460 is the same as in the 4Runner (I own a 2020 and I've looked into the Lexus 460s before). The 4runner, nor the 460, are really meant for towing an RV. Can you make them do it? Of course. Are they comfortable doing it? No. I wouldn't put much more than a golf cart trailer behind the 4Runner and the 460 has about 30 or so lbs. more torque so won't do much better.

I'm surprised the payload is almost 400lbs. more than the 4runner Limited. Probably comes from the bigger engine but the 460 will weigh more..? All that said, just be aware. An SUV is just not a tow vehicle and are way too twitchy for me - and body on frame, although light years better than unibody, still can't help you with a too small TV. In that vein, IMO I would get rid of any 2 point sway control and go with a GOOD 4 point. The 460 is just too narrow, too light, too short to go with a "get by" weight distribution hitch.

Not trying to be critical but want you to be aware of the issues you face. You probably know some of them as you said you've been towing with unibodies, which I wouldn't do, and are probably the least capable of anything in the "tow vehicle" spectrum. Be aware, be careful and get a 4 point sway control; I've seen WAY too many white knuckled SUV drivers driving 40mph on a 75mph freeway trying to keep themselves from being run over.

I would agree 100%!
But sounds as though the OP is positively certain it's a great more than adequate tow vehicle so the only thing left to say is GOOD LUCK & DRIVE SAFE!
