up graded tow rigs

Went from Ram 1500 to Ram 2500 with Cummins. Have Fastway E2 WDH with 2 inch drop shank. New TV has 2 1/2 inch receiver, have adapter in hitch, should I change out drop shank for 2 1/2 so fits better?

Totally up to you, but when I went from my 1500 to 2500 I also purchased a new 2 1/2 drop shank.
Even though the adapter worked just fine, I didn't like it.

Of course this was when I was pulling our previous travel trailer.

When I went from a Ram 1500 to 2500 I left the shank in and had no problems with the exception of noise/clanking from the play inside the receiver. Mechanically it was fine and didn't see the need for the expense of a new shank just for that. Bought a hitch clamp to stop the noise and play and it was fine.

My trailer came with a WDH that had a 2” shank so I used the 2-2.5” adapter that came with my truck. It worked very well so I had no plans to upgrade to a 2.5” shank. After one of my trips, I removed my hitch for storage and must not have removed the adapter. After the embarrassment of losing it on the road somewhere, I decided I wouldn’t take that chance again and upgraded to a 2.5” shank.

Been using the adapter for 10 years without any problems. I also use a Harley Davidson receiver cover that locks into the shank when I’m not towing. I guess that keeps me from forgetting to put the pin back in and losing the adapter.
