New Cougar 22MLS Question

I am purchasing a 2022 Cougar 22MLSWE. I was surprised to find it had no front windshield, and was told that it was because it was a west coast edition and it would cost an additional $5000 to get a windshield edition sent to me. Why would Keystone eliminate the windshield? Is there a negative to having the windshield?

We have a 2021 Cougar 26RBSWE... Don't miss the winshield at all... It's a sleeping area... How often would you look out the front? Does have two nice side windiws... :-)

Maybe because out West is where the “Rockies” are…
That front windshield is more trouble than it’s worth in my opinion. They are known to leak and the shade doesn’t do a good job of blocking light.

I wouldn’t worry or pay for the windshield as the shade is a hunk of junk- I have to pin mine down as it won’t stay

Years ago front windows were desirable for one reason, ventilation. They would have a coner over the window to prevent rock damage. When stopped the cover would be raised (it was hinged at the top) and secured by side arms turning the cover into an awning.

Unless you use the rising sun as an alarm clock they are an ascetic item that comes with the probability (not possability) of leaking. Is that worth $5k? To me it would be worth something NOT to have that window.

We like our front window. My wife likes a little more light in the camper, and the window provides that. Everything including the shade is working well. No leaks thus far. 😀
