12 volt fans
Hi everyone, it's hard to believe the season is winding down. We do a lot of dry camping and state park camping with generator running time restrictions. Some nights get awfully hot and stuffy. My question is, do those 12 volt recessed ceiling fans move enough air to make a difference? They are kind of pricey so I'm looking for your expert opinions before I spend the money. Thanks for you help

If by "recessed ceiling fans" you mean vent fans like Fantastic or MaxxAire then yes, they do move a lot of air and can bring in a nice breeze from all windows. We have a MaxxAire and love it. Can leave the vent open all the time or will open and close with thermostat.
This is the model we have.

There are several good brands of 12 volt power vents on the market... and yes, they're "worth it", IMHO.
Do some research - check the amps used, they may vary slightly... some are reversible & some are not; and, depending
on where you plan to install the fan/vent (in the bedroom??) some are louder than others.
As Hank mentioned, we (also) have the Maxx-Fan, although a different model.
Here's some previous forum discussions about the power vents, installation, etc.

Hope this helps.

Another plug for the Fantastic-type fan. We have two - one in the bedroom and one in the kitchen/living room area. Ours are not as fancy as Hanks so I have to turn them on manually so there may be a slight interruption in Happy Hour (unlike others who stay reclined and push buttons).
Despite this "inconvenience", they are well worth the money. Just be prudent with your battery use.

If you do a lot of dry camping I would suggest a decent solar panel and a couple more batteries. $500 invested there will make a LOT of difference

Why do people wait till 5 o'clock and since when is "Happy" limited to one hour???? Gotta go turn the ribs for this afternoon's game and baste my tongue with some malt, hops and barley flavored beverage. Nice breeze today don't need the fan.

I have "happy day" instead
