Welcome to the forum
Congrats on your find. 2 possibilities:
The converter may be the bottom half of the power distribution panel, or it may be seperate and probably located just behind the panel.
Is there something wrong with it?

I had dead batteries and want to check the panel. I got it last fall and have not had it out yet.

Should be right behind the panel with the breakers and fuses. Welcome from northern MN.

Can you elaborate on this? Has the trailer not been plugged in since last fall? If that's the case then the parasitic drain would fully drain the batteries and likely ruin them.

Before getting too concerned about the converter check the dates on the batteries, if 5+ years old replace them with good quality deep cycle batteries not hybrid marine cranking batteries.
I'd also check the tire date codes, also if 5+ years old replace them regardless of the tread appearance.

Congrats on your new camper, and I agree with the above tips: check your battery date and tire date. Replace if over 5 years old.
You have a battery cut-off switch somewhere. Make sure the battery cut-off switch is not in the "off" position. This will keep the battery from charging when plugged into shore power, and kill the battery to almost everything run on DC power in the camper.

Your gas detector by itself will run down the batteries if the cut off switch is actuated.

Thank you all for the great info. My other trailer is a 1955 so no anything for electronics.
finding the cut off switch, and what does it look like. So any ideas where that switch maybe located?

Being a 2005 travel trailer it wouldn't have an OEM battery disconnect switch. If the previous owner added one then it could vary in looks and location. My first question is the color and connection of the battery cables. Keystone used black and white battery cables. Black is positive and white is negative. If they are connected in reverse order it will blow the two reverse polarity fuses on the converter.
I would suggest first to trace the battery cables and confirm that they are polarized correctly and that the cable to the frame is not corroded. Remove the cable from the frame, clean the frame, the ring terminal, and the self tapping bolt that holds it. If that is all in order report back and someone will walk you thru testing the canverter/battery charger.

It’s an RV manf game called “guess where the converter is”
They are usually located within 24 inches of your electrical panel… in any direction, buried behind something.
