No Sound from Scepter Television

just tried to watch a movie since it was pouring outside. No sound from the telly in air TV mode or the HDMI input. It is not on mute, unplugging for 1 minute didn't help. Unless anyone has a suggestion, I'm assuming it's just dead.

Has it worked before? When you say no sound from tv do you mean the tv speakers? If that's the case check that it's not on mute, and that the tv sound settings are correct in the tv's setup menu.

Yes, it worked before and yes I am referring to the built-in TV speakers. It is not on mute, checked speaker set-up and even did a factory reset. I also sent a message to Scepter technical support. Can't be the antenna or reception since the sound does not work on HDMI input from a DVD player either. I'm leaning towards dead but I just never had a TV where the sound just quit.

The OEM tvs aren't exactly the top of the line models. For the cost of smaller tvs these days I'd replace it with a Samsung, Vizio, LG, or similar brand.

I checked reviews for Scepter, surprisingly, they have good ratings for a low cost tv. more surprising, i received a reply from their tech support in 1-hour! of course i already tried all of their suggestions and will try to get it replaced under warranty as the TT is only 11 months old but the tv itself may be over 1 year. Otherwise it will be LG. thanks!

yes sir, tried that too. Had not watched the tv since May and it worked perfectly then. Didn't touch or change anything - sat outside and admired the stars instead. I guess too many PA potholes just did it in?

Also on a serious note …do you have a true ems surge protector that you use when plugged in? If not it could have caused the problem

Don’t get just a surge protector…you need a true EMS/surge protector either 30 amp or 50 amp if you have 50 amp service to your rv…it protects against a bunch of electrical issues including low voltage and grounding issues as well as surge protection.
These electric issues can cause problems with circuit boards and may not show up till days or weeks later if not immediately

Just sent e-mail to DW to order that exact model, 30 Amp, from Amazon, same price as Walmart.
thanks for the needed reminder.

EMS Surge Protector

So the Progressive Industries PT30X arrived yesterday, it is huge! There were recent posts about loose plugs at CG's. Any suggestions on keeping this plugged in nice and snug? Some concern the weigt will want to pull the plug out, not all the way but even a little bit will add extra current (heat) to the remaining surface area of the plugs.

A simple 30 amp male to 30 amp female "dog bone" will do that and act as a sacrificial plug in the event of an issue.
