Using Park Cable TV

We spent Memorial Day weekend in an RV park that had cable TV hook-ups, so I connected our new rig to cable for the first time. I couldn't get a picture on either TV. I have to admit that being a guy and the owner's manual being a generic POS, I didn't consult the Keystone owner's manual, though I did look at the manuals for the TV & DVD/CD. Any suggestions as to what I was doing wrong?

Input on Tv

Did you try selecting different Input choices using the TV remote....(not the Jensen remote)? Likely need to put on TV or Component. You then need to hit Menu on the TV remote....go to Setup.....then scan for channels. You need to do the last step at eacg CG - Assuming each uses a different cable company.

It is likely one of two things.

First, check the remotes for each TV's as they typically have a "setup" button/feature that will search for all analog or digital channels the cable company provides. The search can take several minutes and you have to do this at each park you stay at. You will need to do this for each TV in your camper.

The second possibility could be the "satellite" switch (if your camper is wired for satellite connection) is in the "on" position which would cut off the cable provider signal. Our satellite switch is located in the bedroom on the ceiling.

I hope this helps.

First and formost, did you turn off the antenna booster?? When the booster is on it directs signal from the antenna to the TVs, when OFF it passes the signal from the outside Cable connection to the TVs.

Antenna/Cable switch

Our Copper Canyon has a button mounted in a face plate in the rear tv cabinet that switches between antenna and cable input. I didn't know it was the "antenna booster" that mhs4771 references in that post but it sure sounds like it. I do know the button has to be in the correct position when we use antenna or cable. On our unit, it has to be in the correct input position before the setup/program channel process is done.

Forget your Keystone owner's manual - you'll find nothing in there about your problem. Make sure your wall-plate antenna booster is off. If you have any kind of guide for using your remote, try that. Each TV set is different but on mine, I have to go through the SOURCE button >>> Tuner>>>> Menu>>>> Setup>>> Auto Channel Search >>> Cable. This sequence usually works for me but your setup procedure may be different.
As was mentioned above, you have to go through this process each time you move to a new location, so you get to be frustrated not once but several times during a trip!
Good luck and try to keep cool.

We have a Montana Mountaineer 285RLD and just as MHS suggested it is most likely the booster. As Festus2 stated, you will do the channel search for each TV when you turn the switch off or on.

I sorta had the same issue. My living room TV has 2 different coax connectors, 1 for antena 1 for cable/satalite, neither labeled. BR only has one for antenna. Why, I have no idea.

I think I feel another mod coming on......

Thanks to everybody for the tips. We were out this past weekend and I was looking forward to turning off the antenna booster and testing our cable hook-up but unfortuantely, the cable I had in the trailer was about 4 feet short of reaching the park's connector. Oh well, I'll try again with a longer cable on our next trip.

Happy Trails,
