Whats everyone use on their roof for sun protection? Has anyone tried 303 protection. I use it on my boat seats and it works great

There are a couple of choices. Some like me use 303, Dicor has good UV protection in spray bottles, we use them at work.

We also use 303. Roll on with mohair 9” roller cover and 5’ roller pole.

Can anyone tell me approx. how much it takes to do the roof on a 35'er? Says can be used on fiberglass as well, does it work well on exterior walls? Wondering if it will help keep paint and decals from fading?

It will work on the filon and the paint, but you will be rubbing on it for a looooong while to make the streaks go away. There are many spray and rubbing waxes that apply/remove easier. I've found by the time I make a little mess here and there with my antics on the roof and roll them out here and there that I will use up about a quart and a half of my gallon. The stuff will go a long, long way. It can be done for way less if you're careful.

Thanks, I think I will try it after getting up there and washing the roof.

And the directions on the bottle says to just spray on and wipe dry. Sounded to good to be true. Guess I will stick to my wash and wax car wash product for the ext. walls. Thanks

The "secret to success" is to understand that oil and water do NOT mix.....

Goodyear Aerospace 303 is a WATER BASED solution....

Automotive "wash and wax" products are almost all OIL BASED solutions...

If you wash your trailer with Maguires Auto Wash/Wax (yellow snot), you're putting a "wet petroleum film" on your trailer. To then "go over it with 303" is trying to "mix water and oil"... It's guaranteed to streak and smear....

If you wash with a "auto wash/wax product" (most of us do) to protect the FILON coating and any wax that's on the surface (DAWN will cut the wax and remove it so we don't use harsh detergents), then you will need to give the surface a couple of days "between washing and using 303" so the petroleum in the car wash soap can disperse and evaporate. Once that happens, the 303 won't streak nearly as much, if it streaks any at all....

I use both Maguires "yellow snot" and 303. With 2 or 3 days between washing the sidewalls and then "climbing on the roof to apply 303, when it rains, the sides don't streak from the runoff and the sidewalls don't smear from the reaction of the oil and water trying to mix.....
