Backup camera

We have a 2018 passport. Has anyone hooked up a backup camera? I bought a furrion vision s. The camper is prewired for it. I’m getting no power to it as of now. My guess the prewire is in the reverse lights. Can anyone confirm this? My next step will be to wire into the clearance light above it.
Thanks

Try turning your truck's running lights on - mine have to be on in order for the Furrion camera to work.

We picked up a new Cougar TT last week. We had dealer install a Furrion and it worked fine there. Got home and it won’t connect (wireless unit). Dealer told be truck had to be in reverse to power the camera but that does not work. Now I’m stuck with a $500 accessory I can’t use.

Thanks I’ve had the truck running and still nothing. I’m sure I could tie it into the light above it but I’m going to pay the dealership to do it. Just messed with it again this morning after work. I’ll try one more thing when the wife is home putting the truck in reverse. If that works I’ll still take it in want it on all the time I’m driving. Hopefully that is what it is. So much for plug and play. Haha

That stinks you would think the dealership would take care of it. I hope it does not. One to that for us. The wife and I will be really upset.

Lots of cases where the polarity is wrong. The backup camera probably gets power from the closest marker light.

Take off the light, should be some slack in wires, enough to see what's going on. Test polarity, fix as required.

Or Might be easiest to cut socket off trailer and plug off camera. Check parity and splice in with correct polarity.

No backup lights on your trailer (usually aren't), unlikely reverse will help.

I installed mine and it turns out the premised plug was wired directly to the battery. Even the cut offs didn’t change it. The dealer is supposed to fix it so when my headlights or parking lights are the camera has power. The rest of the time it should be off.

If you don't want to depend on the dealer, fishing power from the marker light is pretty easy. On my 26RKPR it's less than a foot away.

I have to hook mine up in the next couple of days so I'm crossing my fingers it works. Haven't used it in 4 months so reading this is giving me a good reminder.

Check your battery disconnect switch is on, the camera connection on mine is wired to the power panel and is on as long as the disconnect switch is on.
