hard wire surge protector 3720rl montana

we have a new 3720rl and wanted to put in a EMS hw50c surge protector.
like most diy projects I youtube it, looked like a pretty easy install, went ahead and ordered it.
in the video it shows the incoming power cable exposed in the basement I opend up my basement and no cables "silly me" , my incoming plug is in the rear of the trailer with everything up in the belly covered.my question is where would you install to get to the wireing or connect this thing up at and how do I get there?

thank you

Look for the breaker panel. You might have enough room behind it if you remove the mounting screws and pull it out.

That's what I did. I disconnected it at distribution panel, fed it into the EMS, and then ran a jumper from the EMS back to the panel. I had to buy a piece of wire for the jumper, I think it was 6 gauge 3/1? It's very stiff and hard to work with in a confined space but I got it done.

Mine is only 30 amp, but I installed it behind the breaker panel, cut the incoming wire, that was connected to the panel and inserted the EMS in the cut.

If you need to purchase more wire to make the connection. You can purchase 6ga 50 amp appliance cord very flexible and easier to work with.

I did the same and I mounted the remote readout next to the breaker panel so that I can check the readouts (generator and shore power) while hooking up without having to climb into the RV.

Re: hard wire surge protector 3720rl montana

You may need the "special plug" if you have the hard wired EMS and want to use generator power. The EMS will show "no ground" I think.
