Metal or Plastic..Plumbing Vents

I am needing to replace the rooftop plumbing vent covers and was wondering if anyone had an opinion as to whether I should purchase the metal ones or the less expensive plastic ones. My thought is that while the metal ones are more expensive, they should last a whole lot longer and would be less apt to be damaged by hail or debris. I would appreciate any opinions.

I would rather have a piece of plastic that would break off if something were hit then a metal vent that may take a piece of the roof with it. I have had plastic vent caps on 12 year old trailers that were just fine and if not very easy to replace. I thought they all were plastic.

Ventline (by Dexter) makes a metal one....model #V2084. They also make a plastic one which is model #V2049. Here is a link:

Plastic vent caps

I agree with HankPage.

I just replaced 2 plumbing vent caps. BOTH were broken right off. I think it happened on an extremely windy day. Probably small branches from trees, which were flying around, caused them to break. If I had metal vent caps, the roof might have ripped.
