Angry Heater doesn't turn in

Good morning, or rather cold morning. We have a new Alpine and this is our first cold trip. Set everything up and turned on the heat and nothing happens. The blower doesn't start and obviously the propane doesn't turn on. Checked the fuse and it's good but when I took the fuse out the red light didn't light as you'd expect for an open circuit. I'm assuming it's not getting the ,12vdc. What are we doing wrong or is the camper seriously broken.

Maintaining barely with the electric fire place and rear heat pump

Re: Heater doesn't turn in

first check to see if your battery disconnect is in the correct position.. then check to see if your battery is connected and charged.. Lights will work without battery if plugged in to shore power. ... heater will not

Re: Heater doesn't turn in

How else can I tell if they are all charged. Wouldn't I see other issues?

Re: Heater doesn't turn in

Your trailer isn't seriously broken. Most likely it is a "signal" issue. Your furnace is controlled by the control board in the AC unit. Your thermostat setting tells the board to turn on the heat and it sends a signal to the furnace.

It sounds like you have a multi zone thermostat, and if that's the case make sure your on the correct zone to operate the furnace. If you are, then it's going to take some trouble shooting. What brand of furnace? What thermostat?

Re: Heater doesn't turn in

I just turned the zone with the heat pump to furnace and it kicked in. Does that mean the heat pump isn't working it maybe programmed to the wrong one?

Re: Heater doesn't turn in

The multi zone Dometic thermostat has a series of switches that "enables" features on each zone. The furnace is only wired to one zone but it may be that the thermostat wasn't set up right.

Re: Heater doesn't turn in

Where would I fine the wiring instructions to wire it to the correct zone. I would think you would want it wired to the non heat pump zone

Heater doesn't turn in

I would probably leave that to the dealer. It may be wired and programmed the way it was designed.

When I said it may be programmed wrong, I meant that the furnace option may have been turned on for both zones and left that way. It's been a while since I had to do anything with one of those thermostats, but I'll try to take a look in my Dometic book.

You might find the info your looking for on the Dometic web site.

Re: Heater doesn't turn in

Thank you for the help. We will leave for the dealer when we drop it off for some warranty work. At least now we will be warm this weekend.

Do you have your thermostat set to auto setting? my rear heat pump a/c unit will switch automatically to furnace when outside temp. drops below 32 degrees
