Bad Electrical Feed

Keystone miss drilled a hole for the shore power wire feed and instead of redoing it correctly they decided to just bolt the frame and body together crimping/sandwiching the wire. So after 7 years the insulation on the wire rubbed off and we had one big spark display under the camper at the campground yesterday. We are luckily there wasn't a fire and it didn't happen on the Disney Trip back in January. But the main wire feed is torched along with I believe the converter/battery charger on the AC side. Now we are back home I'm going to dig into it today and get an idea on damage.

But to rub salt in the wound the Campground (Coastal GA RV Resort) is sorry no refunds. I'm, okay no return customer. What else can one do just suck it up and lick the wounds.

Until you get your shore cord repaired or replaced, don't count out the converter, as the surge of a short will go toward the source, not away from it, meaning, the breaker in the pedestal probably tripped, or should have tripped.

Thanks Bob

I'll check the power cord along with the other components. The noise that came out of the unit and sparks was crazy! The unit had been running for about 5 minutes before the fireworks!

Good luck and hope the cord is all you find. Glad no one was hurt and no fire! It seems the old guy that does the cord work is still there and has not learned how to do things properly. My 2016 Cougar 5er arrived with the cord connection port upside down. They should be slightly to the right so there is no interference with the bumper but not straight up so the cord wants to pull out and is near impossible to tighten. Told CW to change it and the tech said it is not the 1st. The service mgr said he is adding that to be checked to the pre-delivery check list.
Although we spend time in coastal GA we have not hit that CG yet ~ unlikely we will now. For a night or two on the way to FL we stop at Country Oaks in Kingsland. For a week we like Jekyll Island and others.

Tingle when I touch the metal door handle

I feel your pain. this weekend i was getting "the little buzz" when i touched anything connected to the frame. Thought it was the post but when i got home found one leg on my shore power discolored and the plastic melted. Open up the plug and found the ground wire came off the screw. Ordered a new plug and will replace.
Maybe that's why the breaker was popping?

I found the burnt cord and was lucky that was all the damage. IM going to replace the main breaker just to be on the safe side. It's only $11 bucks and I'm sure it took some stress.

If I can get drop box to load up Ill post some pictures later.
