I think this may have something to do with uni-sex bathrooms. But then I am confused by O-N, O-F-F switches.

These kinds of threads go off on a tangent.

I guess it's o.k. as long as we don't jump from point to point and spark controversy.

Internet is a wonderful thing

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Power On (IEC 60417-5007)"line) and Power Off (IEC 60417-5008)"circle" symbols are used to indicate positions of the rocker switch

A power symbol is a symbol indicating that a control activates or deactivates a particular device. Universal power symbols are described in the International Electrotechnical Commission 60417 standard, Graphical symbols for use on equipment, appearing in the 1973 edition of the document (as IEC 417) and informally uses earlier.

The well-known on/off power symbol was the result of the logical evolution in user interface design. Originally, most early power controls consisted of switches that were toggled between two states demarcated by the words On and Off. As technology became more ubiquitous, these English words were replaced with the universal symbols line "|" and circle "o" (typically without serifs) to bypass language barriers. This standard is still used on toggle power switches.

The symbol for the standby button was created by superimposing the symbols "|" and "o"; however, it is commonly interpreted as the numerals "0" and "1". Yet the IEC holds these symbols as a graphical representation of a line and a circle.

Other symbols here for push buttons and stand by here as well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_symbol

Thanks for relaying all the info. Your facts are grounded on some pretty solid operating principles. Though going off topic is sure making me short.

Couldnt resist

Explanation: 110100 = 52

32 16 8 4 2 1
1 1 0 1 0 0

32+16+4 = 52

Chip, there are exceptions to that. The wimpy little light that was in my storage compartment under the bed was horribly inadequate. I replaced it with a double LED light and in the process, wired in another switch....a three way. So now, it can be turned on or off from the switch by the baggage door or the new switch I put by the bed inside the trailer.

LOL. But you know what you're doing, so that doesn't count! If Keystone/SOB manufacturer did it, one switch would turn the light on and the other would make your socks go up and down.

If Keystone installed it simply would not work. Then refer to the "manual" and find this "to ensure quality of service when calling for warranty repairs first place a dead chicken with feathers intact into a large brown paper bag. When the first super moon after the second Tuesday of the third waning tide of the first year of ownership twirl the chicken in the bag over your head while hopping on one foot. Your call will be handled by the next available operator."
