First, you do need a charged battery for the fridge to operate on propane. If your battery is dead or doesn't have enough "juice", then the fridge won't light.
How long do you keep your RV in storage before checking or charging the battery? As you mentioned, there are parasitic drains on the battery - stereo light and propane sensorsto name two. You might pull the fuse(s) for these two items so that there is no chance they will drain the battery.
While in storage, do you charge the battery from time-to-time? Do you have power so that you can use a trickle charger and maintain a charge on it?
Are you using the battery disconnect properly? With some disconnects, it is a bit confusing as to whether OFF is really "off" and ON actually "on".
