It will be interesting to compare the results of Sturgis (minimal rules and restrictions) with Laconia (increased rules and restrictions) to actually see how effective the rules are at decreasing the infection rate/positive test results in the weeks following the events. My guess (just a hunch) is that they won't find a significant difference between how many people are infected at Sturgis and Laconia....
I suppose time will tell... The question (if my guess is correct) will then become: Do we continue with "maximum restrictions" or do we "decrease the imposed rules" because they don't make "that much of a difference".....

In September I'll be hopefully taking the RV and bike on an upper mid-west and mountain trip IF they haven't closed down anything/everything. States will start in AL, up to KY, MN both Dakotas, WY, UT AZ and eventually back home to AL. I will definitely social distance since I'm basically anti-social and going by myself on this one. I may go to Sturgis but the rally will be long ended. Don't like rallies anyway. Probably stay at the AFB in Rapid City if they are open. It will be interesting what the covid situation is after the rally but I also don't believe much what the media says anyway.

I picked up a Rapid City Journal arrest are down, speeding up at rallies “Rally COVID-19 cases difficult to track. The DOH will work closely with other states with notification system in place for those exposed. Last I have heard little Sturgis Kentucky will be going full-blown this coming September Postponed from July. I attended that rally last Far less social distancing Then Sturgis rally.

Social Darwinism, that's what happens when stupid people try to intrude upon nature. Every year you see the idiot that decides to jump the fence and go visit the cute furry lions.

What the hell did she think she was doing, these are wild animals not someone's barnyard pets.
Hope she got the picture she wanted!!!

I know that this site is home to any number of amateur lawyers but what would happen if a gal (albeit a dumb one) attempted to pet a bison and it attacked her in the manner of this incident and a passerby saw her distress and pulled out his 1911A1 shot the beast to save the woman's life? This may be happening on some reservation or US land as I doubt those things are wandering around loose on private land. BTW: It really isn't all that good an idea to consider fences a safe bet with those things as I have seen them go right through fences that are intended for cattle.

I suspect the person with the 1911 would be in trouble. It is stated to keep away from the animals and give them their distance. None of those folks should be up close and personal with them and if someone chooses to do that the consequences are on them. After all, they are in the bison's home.

I think the 45 ACP round would probably just piss off the bison and turn it's attack on whomever just "stung" it.

Some years ago a senior member of a school board in Michigan died when she ventured into an area fenced off to take a photo and fell to her death. Remember, maybe those rules actually DO apply to YOU!

Last year about this time we took our granddaughter to the Grand Canyon. While there we were amazed at how many members of the Asian invasion were climbing over the walls to go out on the edges to get a photo, fortunately we did not witness any of those idiots swan dive off the edge.

. The results are in for 650 front line workers at Sturgis. 26 tested positive with Asymptomatic Illness.

That's a 3.11% infection rate. (26/650) and is actually a bit lower than the national average 7 day positive percentage of 5.8%. That puts Sturgis, at least for right now, lower than the national average. An "interesting statistic that's being "omitted from the national news".....

Makes me curious if there have been any studies on the therapeutics of ingesting alcoholic beverages and Covid-19.

If you mean "using alcohol internally to do what hand sanitizer does externally" Sounds to me like an "alcohol induced stupor" might be safer than "drinking iced tea" Of course that's only one "postulation based on nothing but the time" (it's almost happy hour here)

Reminds me of a guy I was talking to the other day (sort of). He said he has zero worries about the virus or anyone with it. Apparently if you keep your blood alcohol content at or above 5% the virus cannot survive as he was told - and he's made every effort to follow those guidelines. He said he's not had a single issue in all these months and never avoided anything or wore a mask......or something like that - a lot of the conversation was very garbled and I was trying to piece together everything and then his head hit the table.... (This is tongue in cheek)
