Channel search won't find channels

I have just purchased a new trailer (Jayco) sorry for the swap from Keystone Sprinter, but the deal was too good to turn down. At Rv Park and did channel search and found nothing. Called previous owner and he said "sorry, I had switched it to air from cable." Thanked him and switched it back and did search. No channels. I have tried to reboot tv by unplugging. Changed cables and moved cable to RV slot next to me. Still nothing. Any ideas?
Previous owner did have DISH. I have the DISH antenna and receiver. I guess I could try to get hooked up with DISH.

Sorry but in reading this I'm going in circles. Are you trying to watch cable or OTA (over the air) tv? Have you changed the input on the tv thru the tv menue to match the signal source?

I am wanting to watch via the cable. The tv was previously set to air and I switched it back to cable. So when I try to find cable channels and do a channel search, it doesn't find any channels.

You should have a wall plate with a cable connector and a push button switch. The outlet sends 12v dc to the amplifier in the tv antenna on the roof. That switch needs to be off to watch cable.

Run a cable directly from your pedestal through a window or slide and do a channel search while the TV source is set to cable. It could very well be your camper's outside connector doesn't work.

Ok, thank you, that got the signal and channel search found all available channels. So the problem is in the connection in the trailer. Any ideas on how to located the issue?

The cable runs on these things is anybody's guess when new, but with the PO adding satellite to it only he or whomever may have connected it can answer with any certainty.
You can buy a cable toner for a few $$ that would be a great tool to have trying to figure out the mystery. Good luck with finding the hidden splitters from factory & any the PO may have added.

Most older campers will have a wall plate with 2 coax connectors. While using a satellite dish the satellite "box" will be connected to the 2 coax connectors, one in and one out. While not connected to a satellite reciever there should be a short cable "jumper" connecting the two coax outlets on that wall plate.
